Swimbladder Structure in Morid Cods (Pisces: Gadiformes)
Copeia, 1988Outgroup comparisons, and dissections of 19 species representing 16 morid genera, indicate that a complete horizontal membranous diaphragm within the posterior chamber of the swimbladder is a synapomorphy of the Moridae. The swimbladder of Pseudophycis differs from that of all other investigated morid genera in possessing lateral diverticula.
