A new microsporidian parasite, Microsporidium theragrae n. sp., infecting Alaska pollock Gadus chalcogrammus (Teleostei: Gadidae)

Parasitology Research, 2022
A new microsporidian infecting Gadus chalcogrammus Pallas, 1814 (Gadidae), is described based on morphological, ultrastructural, and molecular studies. This microsporidian parasite develops inside intramuscular spindle-shaped lesions measuring approximately 1-2 mm in width and 4-8 mm in length.

Environmental impacts on walleye pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus) distribution across the Bering Sea shelf

Deep Sea Research Part II: Topical Studies in Oceanography, 2020
Abstract Adult and juvenile (age-1) walleye pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus) were sampled by the US NOAA Alaska Fisheries Science Center summer bottom trawl survey in 2010, 2017, 2018, and 2019 in the northeastern and southeastern Bering Sea, with profiles of temperature collected concurrently.

The Effect of Warmer Water Temperature of Walleye Pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus) Larvae

Journal of the Korean Society of Marine Environment and safety, 2015
We examined the effect of warm temperature on the survival of larvae of walleye pollock and on their swimming behavior during the four days of post-hatch. Observations were conducted on larvae in Petri dishes and in 85 cm tall, cylindrical tanks that had a warmer upper layer and cooler lower layer separated by a small thermocline. Mortality was carried

Feeding ecology of age-0 walleye pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus) and Pacific cod (Gadus macrocephalus) in the southeastern Bering Sea

Deep Sea Research Part II: Topical Studies in Oceanography, 2014
Abstract Walleye pollock ( Gadus chalcogrammus ) and Pacific cod ( Gadus macrocephalus ) are of particular economic and ecological importance in the southeastern Bering Sea. The spatial and temporal overlap of early life stages of both species may explain their strongly correlated recruitment trends. Pelagic larvae and juveniles were collected during

Effects of spawning temperature on the reproductive characteristics of walleye pollock Gadus chalcogrammus

Fisheries Science, 2019
Reproductive characteristics under different water temperature regimes were examined in hatchery-reared walleye pollock Gadus chalcogrammus. The fish had been cultured for 33 months post-hatching before the experiment, and the first spawning was observed from 24 to 27 months post-hatching.

The influence of water temperature on the induction of vitellogenin in walleye pollock Gadus chalcogrammus

Aquaculture, 2019
Abstract This study examined the influence of water temperature on the induction of vitellogenin (VTG) in walleye pollocks (Gadus chalcogrammus) in aquaculture. The full-length VTG-A (or VTG-I) gene of walleye pollock was cloned using RACE (Rapid amplification of cDNA ends)-PCR method from liver tissue and recombinant VTG protein (wpVTG) was ...

Variability of hydrological conditions at spawning sites of East Kamchatka walleye pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus) в 2012–2022

The researches of the aquatic biological resources of Kamchatka and the North-West Part of the Pacific Ocean, 2023
Analysis of inter-annual variability of temperature and dynamic conditions at sites of mass spawning of East Kamchatka walleye pollock is made based on the data obtained in the course of spring ichthyoplankton surveys for the period from 2012 to 2022 and used data of remote (satellite) monitoring.
