Non‐Destructive and Mechanical Characterization of the Bond Quality of Co‐Extruded Titanium‐Aluminum Profiles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the bond quality of co‐extruded aluminum–titanium hybrid profiles, focusing on the lateral angular co‐extrusion (LACE) process. It examines how heat treatments (HT) affect intermetallic phase formation, bond strength, and material properties.

Partitioning and Coarsening Dynamics of Precipitate‐Strengthened Cr‐Si Alloys: The Role of Ge, Pt, and Mo

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 9, May 2025.
The microstructure of Cr‐rich Cr‐Si‐alloys is maintained by alloying with Ge, Pt, and Mo. The effects of these elements on A15‐phase fraction, partitioning, microstructural stability, grain size, and hardness are combinable. Molybdenum is found to be the most promising alloying element for microstructural stability during high‐temperature exposure.

Green Multicomponent Alloys with Excellent Multifunctional and Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 7, April 2025.
A sustainable strategy for developing multifunctional green multicomponent alloys (MCAs) using cheap scrap materials is demonstrated. The developed green MCAs with disordered–ordered structures enable a joint regulation of dislocation behavior, scattering of conduction electrons, and motion of magnetic domain walls, leading to high strength and ...
