Vegetation Increases CH4 Emissions and Methanotroph Diversity in Marine Sediments

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 32, Issue 7, July 2026.
Seagrass meadows enhance carbon burial but also increase methane (CH4) emissions from marine sediments. The presence of seagrass modifies sediment properties, creating carbon‐rich environments characterized by higher carbon accumulation and CO2 fluxes, which stimulate CH4 production and lead to higher emissions.

Computational Fluid Dynamic‐Discrete Element Method Study of Biocarbon Injection in Electric Arc Furnaces Using Shrouding Jet Injectors

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 97, Issue 6, Page 3357-3369, June 2026.
This study uses coupled computational fluid dynamic‐discrete element method (CFD–DEM) simulations to investigate biomass particle injection through a shrouded lance in electric arc furnaces (EAFs). It examines how biomass properties, feed rate, and lance design affect particle dispersion and delivery efficiency.

Elections in Times of Multiple Crises: Turnout and Vote Choice in the Swiss Federal Elections of 2023

open access: yesSwiss Political Science Review, Volume 32, Issue 2, Page 268-298, June 2026.
Abstract This article examines how successive crises shaped electoral participation and vote choice in the 2023 Swiss federal elections. We assess the influence of the COVID‐19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and the subsequent energy crisis, which differ in their nature and, relatedly, in their proximity to voters and the clarity of political ...

Seasonal Performance Analysis of Monocrystalline and Polycrystalline Photovoltaic Solar Panels Under Dust Deposition in Niamey, Niger

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 4, Page 1822-1835, April 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper investigates the impact of dust accumulation and temperature on the performance of monocrystalline and polycrystalline photovoltaic (PV) panels under the climatic conditions of Niamey, Niger, with a focus on seasonal variations. High‐resolution performance data were collected across the rainy, Harmattan, and hot seasons to evaluate ...

Cordilleran Ice Sheet early deglaciation inferred from evolution of Late‐Pleistocene glacial Lake Dzulh Stun in east‐central British Columbia, Canada

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, Volume 41, Issue 3, Page 452-472, April 2026.
ABSTRACT We document the early decay of the Late‐Pleistocene Cordilleran Ice Sheet in the central portion of the Rocky and Cariboo Mountains and the Rocky Mountain Trench in east‐central British Columbia. Glacial lakes impounded at the eastern margin of the ice sheet occupied watersheds on the west flank of the central Rocky Mountains, leaving ...

Global determinants of home range sizes in felids: Evidence of human disturbance impact

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 95, Issue 4, Page 697-711, April 2026.
This study is the first to demonstrate the influence of anthropogenic factors and species richness in felids on home range size across the entire felid taxon. Felids are a taxon of major interest in conservation biology, and gaining a comprehensive view of their spatial ecology will help derive global conservation recommendations.
