3D free-hand ultrasound to register anatomical landmarks at the pelvis and localize the hip joint center in lean and obese individuals

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
3D free-hand ultrasound (3DFUS) is becoming increasingly popular to assist clinical gait analysis because it is cost- and time-efficient and does not expose participants to radiation.

Fluid and Neuroimaging Biomarkers in Microgliopathy Colony‐Stimulating Factor‐1 Receptor‐Related Disorders

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This study aims to identify both fluid and neuroimaging biomarkers for CSF1R‐RD that can inform the optimal timing of treatment administration to maximize therapeutic benefit, while also providing sensitive quantitative measurements to monitor disease progression.

The Case of a 28‐Year‐Old Woman With Medically Refractory Focal Epilepsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We present the case of a 28‐year‐old right‐handed woman with medically refractory focal epilepsy. Her seizure semiology and electroencephalography (EEG) indicated a seizure onset zone in the right central‐parietal area. However, both MRI and PET scans were unremarkable, showing no focal lesions or areas of altered metabolism.

Acute effect of resistive aquatic high-intensity interval training on metabolic costs in adults

open access: yesFrontiers in Sports and Active Living
BackgroundThe effects of Aquatic High-Intensity Interval Training (AHIIT) and resistive AHIIT (Resistive AHIIT) to improve metabolic responses were not yet known.ObjectiveThis study was to compare the metabolic responses and perceived effort in young ...

Exploratory Analysis of ELP1 Expression in Whole Blood From Patients With Familial Dysautonomia

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Familial dysautonomia (FD) is a hereditary neurodevelopmental disorder caused by aberrant splicing of the ELP1 gene, leading to a tissue‐specific reduction in ELP1 protein expression. Preclinical models indicate that increasing ELP1 levels can mitigate disease manifestations.

Gait initiation and termination strategies in patients with Prader-Willi syndrome

open access: yesJournal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation, 2017
Background Gait Initiation (GI) is a functional task representing one of the first voluntary destabilizing behaviours observed in the development of a locomotor pattern as the whole body centre of mass transitions from a large to a small base of support.

Chronological and Spatial Distribution of Skeletal Muscle Fat Replacement in FHL1‐Related Myopathies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Variants in the FHL1 gene cause FHL1‐related myopathies (FHL1‐RMs), a group of neuromuscular disorders with diverse clinical presentations. This study aimed to comprehensively characterize the spatial and temporal patterns of skeletal muscle fat replacement throughout the whole body in FHL1‐RMs, to examine disease progression over ...

Association of Corticospinal Tract Asymmetry With Ambulatory Ability After Intracerebral Hemorrhage

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Ambulatory ability after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is important to patients. We tested whether asymmetry between ipsi‐ and contra‐lesional corticospinal tracts (CSTs) assessed by diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is associated with post‐ICH ambulation.
