Abundance gradients in the galactic disk [PDF]

open access: yesScience in China Series G, 2003
The relationship between abundances and orbital parameters for 235 F- and G-type intermediate- and low- mass stars in the Galaxy is analyzed. We found that there are abundance gradients in the thin disk in both radial and vertical directions (-0.116 dex kpc -1 and -0.309 dex kpc -1 respectively).

Mechanistic Insights Into Cellulose Dissolution in Solvents for Advanced Industrial Applications: A Systematic and Bibliometric Review

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cellulose dissolution is important for various industries, including textiles, bioplastics, foods and pharmaceuticals, yet achieving efficient dissolution remains challenging. Deep eutectic solvents (DES) have emerged as promising alternatives to traditional solvents due to their low toxicity, biodegradability and sustainability.

The Impact of Initial Composition on Massive Star Evolution and Nucleosynthesis

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We study the sensitivity of presupernova evolution and supernova nucleosynthesis yields of massive stars to variations of the initial composition. We use the solar abundances from Lodders, and compute two different sets of initial stellar compositions ...

Boo-1137 - An Extremely Metal-Poor Star in the Ultra-Faint Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy Bo\"{o}tes I

open access: yes, 2009
We present high-resolution, high-S/N spectra of an extremely metal- poor giant star Boo-1137 in the "ultra-faint" dwarf spheroidal galaxy (dSph) Bootes I (absolute magnitude Mv ~ -6.3).

Discovery and Initial Investigation of a New Low Surface Brightness Planetary Nebula Candidate at High Galactic Latitude

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Planetary nebulae represent a late evolutionary phase of low‐ to intermediate‐mass stars. In this article, we present the serendipitous discovery of a previously unknown, faint potential Galactic planetary nebula (PN) in the constellation Camelopardalis, identified during a survey‐inspection, aiming at the detection of dwarf companions of the ...

Novae: An Important Source of Lithium in the Galaxy

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The source of the Galactic lithium (Li) has long been a puzzle. With the discovery of Li in novae, extensive research has been conducted. However, there still exists a significant disparity between the observed abundance of Li in novae and the existing ...

The THESEUS Space Mission and the Infrared Telescope Calibration Unit

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Transient High‐Energy Sky and Early Universe Surveyor (THESEUS) is an ESA M7 mission concept currently in Phase A, designed to exploit gamma‐ray bursts to probe the early Universe while advancing multi‐messenger and time‐domain astrophysics. To achieve its ambitious goals, THESEUS will combine wide‐band x‐ray and gamma‐ray monitors with an

Relationship between the Elemental Abundances and the Kinematics of Galactic-Field RR Lyrae Stars

open access: yes, 2017
Data of our compiled catalog containing the positions, velocities, and metallicities of 415 RR~Lyrae variable stars and the relative abundances [el/Fe] of 12~elements for 101 RR~Lyrae stars, including four $\alpha$~elements (Mg, Ca, Si, and Ti), are used
