Nebular abundances of southern symbiotic stars

open access: yes, 2005
We have calculated relative elemental abundances for a sample of 43 symbiotic stars. Helium abundances and the relative elemental abundances N/O, Ne/O, Ar/O were derived from new spectra collected in the optical range through low dispersion spectroscopy.

Stars of extragalactic origin in the solar neighborhood [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We computed the spatial velocities and the galactic orbital elements using Hipparcos data for 77 nearest main-sequence F-G-stars with published the iron, magnesium, and europium abundances determined from high dispersion spectra and with the ages ...

Influence of Metal Species and Content of Fe‐Ni‐Poly(heptazine imides) on their Properties as Electrocatalysts for Zinc‐Air Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Iron/nickel‐modified poly(heptazine imides) are efficient, low‐cost bifunctional electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction and evolution reactions in aqueous zinc–air batteries. Iron enhances oxygen reduction, while nickel single‐atoms deliver oxygen evolution activity comparable to RuO2.

Fluorine Abundances in Galactic AGB Stars

open access: yes, 2010
An analysis of the fluorine abundance in Galactic AGB carbon stars (24 N-type, 5 SC-type and 5 J-type) is presented. This study uses the state- of-the-art carbon rich atmosphere models and improved atomic and molecular line lists in the 2.3 m region. F abundances significantly lower are obtained in comparison to previous study in the literature.

HII Regions And the Protosolar Helium, Carbon, and Oxygen Abundances in the Context of Galactic Chemical Evolution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We present chemical evolution models of the Galactic disk with different Z-dependent yields. We find that a moderate mass loss rate for massive stars of solar metallicity produces an excellent fit to the observed C/H and C/O gradients of the Galactic ...

Generic Evolution Of Deuterium And Helium-3

open access: yes, 1995
The primordial abundances of deuterium and of helium-3, produced during big bang nucleosynthesis, depend sensitively on the baryon density. Thus, the observed abundances of D and \he may provide useful ``baryometers'' provided the evolution from ...

Deep Learning‐Assisted Coherent Raman Scattering Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
The analytical capabilities of coherent Raman scattering microscopy are augmented through deep learning integration. This synergistic paradigm improves fundamental performance via denoising, deconvolution, and hyperspectral unmixing. Concurrently, it enhances downstream image analysis including subcellular localization, virtual staining, and clinical ...

The Origins of Lithium Enhancement in Polluted White Dwarfs

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The bulk abundances of exoplanetesimals can be measured when they are accreted by white dwarfs. Recently, lithium from the accretion of exoplanetesimals was detected in relatively high levels in multiple white dwarfs.

Two views of globular cluster stars in the Galactic halo

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2012
In [1] we reported the discovery in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey-II/SEGUE spectroscopic database of a small subset of halo red giants, 2.5%, with CN and CH band strengths indicative of globular-cluster-like carbon and nitrogen abundances.

SNe heating and the chemical evolution of the intra-cluster medium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We compute the chemical and thermal history of the intra-cluster medium in rich and poor clusters under the assumption that supernovae (I, II) are the major responsible both for the chemical enrichment and the heating of the intra-cluster gas.
