Understanding Degradation Mechanisms in Water‐In‐Salt Electrolyte. Part 2: Impact of the Electrochemical Parameters on the Cycling Behavior of LiFePO4 versus TiS2

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, EarlyView.
Cycling water‐in‐salt batteries involves complex degradation processes that require multiprobe analysis. Using online electrochemical mass spectrometry (OEMS), postmortem X‐ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) (including hard‐XPS), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the degradation mechanisms are examined in composite electrodes (TiS2 and LiFePO4)

Reduction and Solid Electrolyte Interphase Formation Mechanism of Prop‐1‐ene‐1,3‐Sultone

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, EarlyView.
Layer‐forming additives stabilize Li‐ion cells, yet their mechanisms remain unclear. Using operando attenuated total reflection fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy, online electrochemical mass spectrometry, electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and ex situ X‐ray ...

Thermodynamic fluctuations and radiation properties around Schwarzschild black holes immersed in Hernquist dark matter halo

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
This study investigates the dynamics of circular motion and radiative properties of particles orbiting Schwarzschild black holes embedded in a Hernquist dark matter halo.

Form flows function: Learner‐centered game Re‐design in a STEM classroom

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Re‐designing games facilitates interest‐driven learning and immerses learners in systems thinking. However, there are limited studies exploring how the form and function of tabletop games influence learners' design decisions and learning experiences. To address this gap, we conducted a mixed‐methods study in a STEM classroom in western Canada.

Distance to the Galactic Center 7′ Halo from H I Absorption

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Using archival data, we have made an H I absorption study of the 7 ${}^{{\prime} }$ halo surrounding the Sgr A complex, observed toward the Galactic center (GC) region. We find strong H I absorption near velocities of −53 km s ^−1 , which is due to the 3

Dark Matter Particles in the Galactic Halo

open access: yes, 2014
The DAMA/LIBRA-phase1 and the former DAMA/NaI data (cumulative exposure 1.33 ton $\times$ yr, corresponding to 14 annual cycles) give evidence at 9.3 $ $ C.L. for the presence of Dark Matter (DM) particles in the galactic halo, on the basis of the exploited model independent DM annual modulation signature by using highly radio-pure NaI(Tl) target ...

Early evolutionary history of the seed

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The seed is an essential stage in the life history of gymnospermous and angiospermous plants, facilitating both their survival and dispersal. We reappraise knowledge of the evolutionary history of the gymnospermous seed, from its origin in the late Devonian through to the well‐known end‐Permian extinctions – an interval encompassing the ...

Subterranean environments contribute to three‐quarters of classified ecosystem services

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Beneath the Earth's surface lies a network of interconnected caves, voids, and systems of fissures forming in rocks of sedimentary, igneous, or metamorphic origin. Although largely inaccessible to humans, this hidden realm supports and regulates services critical to ecological health and human well‐being.

Galactic Halos from Resonance

open access: yes
In this paper I show how Galactic Halos are a natural aspect of the resonance framework introduced in "The Law of Resonance". Without the need for dark matter insertion I show how a resonance based galaxy shows observed galactic behavior directly from first principles.

Time delay of light in the gravitational lensing of supermassive black holes in dark matter halos

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
The dark matter halo has non-negligible effects on the gravitational lensing of supermassive black hole in the galaxy center. Our work presents a study on the time-delay of light in gravitational lensing of black holes enclosed by dark matter halos.
