Is the galactic halo baryonic?
Recent observations of microlensing events in the Large Magellanic Cloud suggest that a sizeable fraction of the galactic halo is in form of MACHOs with mass less than abou 0.1 M_{\odot}. Here we argue that molecular clouds (mainly H_2) located in the galactic halo can contribute substantially to its total mass.

Evolution of the Galactic Halo and Disk [PDF]
Correlations between stellar kinematics and chemical abundances are fossil evidence for evolutionary connections between Galactic structural components. Extensive stellar surveys show that the only tolerably clear distinction between galactic components appears in the distributions of specific angular momentum.

Parameters of Six Selected Galactic Potential Models
This paper is devoted to the refinement of the parameters of the six three-component (bulge, disk, halo) axisymmetric Galactic gravitational potential models on the basis of modern data on circular velocities of Galactic objects located at distances up ...

Milli-magnetic monopole dark matter and the survival of galactic magnetic fields
Dark sectors with Abelian gauge symmetries can interact with ordinary matter via kinetic mixing. In such scenarios, magnetic monopoles of a broken dark U(1) will appear in our sector as confined milli-magnetically charged objects under ordinary ...

Globular Cluster Abundances and What They Can Tell Us About Galaxy Formation [PDF]
We review the properties of globular clusters which make them useful for studying the Galactic halo, Galactic chemical evolution, and the early stages of the formation of the Milky Way. We review the evidence that GCs have a chemical inventory similar to

Sub-structures in the inner halo of the Milky Way
We present a spectroscopic study of a sample of 238 RR Lyrae stars, from the QUEST survey, located in the Galactic halo at distances between 4 and 20 kpc from the Sun.

We propose the Galactic flare model for the origin of the X-ray gas in the Galactic halo. For this purpose, we examine the magnetic reconnection triggered by Parker instability (magnetic buoyancy instability), by performing the two-dimensional resistive ...

New Constraints on the Galactic Halo Magnetic Field using Rotation Measures of Extragalactic Sources Towards the Outer Galaxy [PDF]
We present a study of the Milky Way disk and halo magnetic field, determined from observations of Faraday rotation measure (RM) towards 641 polarized extragalactic radio sources in the Galactic longitude range 100-117 degs, within 30 degs of the Galactic

Revisiting perfect fluid dark matter: Observational constraints from our galaxy
We revisit certain features of an assumed spherically symmetric perfect fluid dark matter halo in the light of the observed data of our galaxy, the Milky Way (MW). The idea is to apply the Faber–Visser approach of combined observations of rotation curves

Traversable wormholes supported by dark matter and monopoles with semiclassical effects
We present a new traversable wormhole explication of Einstein’s field equations supported by the profile of Einasto Dark Matter densities (Einasto in Trudy Inst Astrofiz Alma-Ata 51:87, 1965; PTarO 36:414, 1968; Astron Nachr 291:97, 1969) and global ...
