Observation of Topological Chirality Switching Induced Freezing of a Skyrmion Crystal

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Using Lorentz Transmission electron microscopy, it is shown that in the insulating van der Waals ferromagnet, CrBr3, a magnetic field can cause Bloch skyrmionic bubbles to spontaneously switch their chirality. As achiral type‐II bubbles are an intermediate state, the bubbles rapidly elongate and shrink when switching, thereby inducing a freezing of the

HESS J1507-622: an unique unidentified source off the Galactic Plane

open access: yes, 2009
Galactic very high energy (VHE, > 100 GeV) gamma ray sources in the inner Galaxy H.E.S.S. survey tend to cluster within 1 degree in latitude around the Galactic plane.

Asymmetry of the Ferroelectric Phase Transition in BaTiO3

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Phase transitions are typically assumed to behave identically in forward and reverse. This work shows that in the ferroelectric material barium titanate this is not true: heating drives an abrupt, first‐order jump, while cooling gives a smooth, continuous change.

Performance Constraints of All‐Perovskite Tandem Solar Cells in Low‐Intensity, Low‐Temperature Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
All‐perovskite tandem solar cells are evaluated under low‐intensity and low‐temperature (LILT) conditions relevant to space environments. Distinct loss regimes emerge, where weaker entropic mixing causes halide segragation below ≈240 K going along with a strong current imbalance, while poor electron transport in C60 dominates.

Diffuse gamma radiation [PDF]

open access: yes
An examination of the intensity, energy spectrum, and spatial distribution of the diffuse gamma-radiation observed by SAS-2 satellite away from the galactic plane in the energy range above 35 MeV has shown that it consists of two components.

Infrared mapping of the Galactic plane. IV - The Galactic center

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 1985
Mid-infrared observations of the galactic center region were obtained at 4, 11, 29, and 27 micrometers on three rocket-borne experiments. The diffuse emission around the galactic center can be separated into three components: (a) a foreground emission from the galactic disk and the 4-5 kpc ring, (b) a spheroidal component surrounding the center, due to

Field‐Free, Deterministic Giant Spin‐Orbit Torque Switching of 1.3 T Perpendicular Magnetization With Symmetry‐Lifted Topological Surface States

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We show a giant, bias‐field free, deterministic, spin‐orbit‐torque switching of perpendicular hard magnets with HC over 1.3 T. By combining the three‐fold 3m symmetry from topological insulator surface states with the rectangular mm2 symmetry from the 2 x 1 intercalation in Cr3Te4, the interface symmetry is significantly reduced into a unidirectional m
