We examined the diversity, abundance, distribution, and average size of squat lobsters collected during eight cruises conducted on the continental shelf and slope of the Gulf of Mexico (Mexican/USA border to the Caribbean Sea). Six species belonging to two genera of Chirostyloidea, and 25 species of four genera of Galatheoidea are reported.

A new squat lobster of the genus Munidopsis (Crustacea: Decapoda: Munidopsidae) from the Mediterranean Sea

A new species of Munidopsis Whiteaves, 1874 is reported from the south of Crete, at 2046-2104 m, in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. The species (M. ariadne) is morphologically closely related to M. maunga Schnabel and Bruce, 2006, from New Zealand.
