THE GALATIA, KANSAS, CHONDRITE

The Galatia meteorite was found in August, 1971, approximately 7 km ENE of Galatia, Barton County, Kansas (98° 53′W., 38° 39.5′N). The single stone weighed 23.9 kg and is partially weathered. Olivine (Fa24.9) and pyroxene (Fs20.9) compositions indicate L‐group classification, and textural observations indicate that the stone is of petrologic type 6 ...

Inscriptions from Eastern Phrygia and Galatia

The author publishes sixty-one epitaphs, all dating to the Roman and late Roman periods, from eastern Phrygia and southern Galatia. These inscriptions were recorded by Sir William Calder in July 1908 in the course of an extensive epigraphic journey through the steppe north of Konya, and are published here on the basis of Calder’s notebook copies.

Witch Hunt in Galatia

Approximately 2,000 years ago, some Jewish communities of Galatia in central Asia Minor believed they had fallen under a curse, argues Jeremy Wade Barrier. A fellow Jew named Paul wrote the letter we call Galatians to help them escape its effects. In the letter, Barrier argues, Paul called for the Jews in Galatia to stop practicing circumcision.

The term Galatia is here used in the widest sense, equivalent to of Γαλατιϰὴ ἐπαρχεία C.I.G. 3991.It is a remarkable feature that there is hardly any allusion in the inscriptions of Galatia to πραγματευόμενοι ʽΡωμαῖοι or ὁ δῆμος ϰαὶ οί ϰατοιϰοῦντες Ρωμϰῖοι. I do not remember one; but they may occur rarely and have escaped my notice or memory.
