AI‐Enhanced System for Diabetic Foot Ulcer Localization and Classification Using Multi‐Scale Neural CNN Model

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs), which heal slowly because of inadequate blood supply, are among the serious infections and chronic foot problems that can result from diabetes mellitus (DM). The primary consequence of DFU, which can result in amputation if left untreated.

Switchable Privacy Displays: Applications, Optical Measurements, and Evaluation With Focus on Automotive

open access: yesJournal of the Society for Information Display, Volume 34, Issue 9, Page 769-785, September 2026.
Switchable‐privacy displays can be used to protect sensitive data in public spaces and to avoid driver distraction on codriver displays. The key optical parameters are the luminance in public and privacy modes, measured over the viewing angle, and the image quality for the intended observers.

A Context‐Aware Decision Support Framework for Scientific Experiment Configuration

open access: yesSoftware: Practice and Experience, Volume 56, Issue 9, Page 1100-1119, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Defining an experimental configuration is a complex decision problem for early‐stage researchers, who must map goals, constraints, and requirements onto datasets, algorithms, and parameter settings that directly affect experimental outcomes.

Association mapping for canopy temperature under irrigated and rainfed conditions at 12 environments identified both known and novel genetic loci

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 19, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) is the most widely cultivated oilseed crop and faces significant yield challenges due to drought stress. Canopy temperature has been proposed as an effective proxy for evaluation of differences in genotypic responses to water limitation, as well as indirectly assessing transpiration and stomatal conductance ...

Metagenomics Reveals Microbial Community Shifts Associated With Contrasting Anthropogenic Impacts in Freshwater Sources of A Coastal Protected Area in Southeastern Brazil

open access: yesWater Environment Research, Volume 98, Issue 9, September 2026.
Metagenomics revealed distinct anthropogenic signatures in the microbiome of freshwater sources on Marambaia Island, supported by the Anthropogenic Impact Index (AII). Impacted sites showed lower microbial diversity, enrichment of fecal‐associated taxa, and 14 antimicrobial resistance genes, whereas conductivity, salinity, and turbidity explained 88.1%

A Solar Analog Model for Decrease in Far Ultraviolet Irradiance Under a Grand Minimum

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Solar analog field stars having a range of magnetic activity can provide an estimate of solar spectral irradiance (SSI) variability relevant to understanding the Sun's influence on terrestrial climate. This approach is particularly useful for far ultraviolet (FUV) irradiance that cannot be observed from the Earth surface.

Cosmic Ray Anisotropy Generated by the June 22nd 2015 Interplanetary Events

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract On 22 June 2015, the near Earth interplanetary space was perturbed by a series of high‐speed streamers and interplanetary coronal mass ejections associated with an active region and two low‐latitude coronal holes. The interaction of these disturbances gave rise to the complex solar wind structure observed at 1 au.

Polygon‐Based Spectral Reflectance Sampling for Real‐Time River Discharge Estimation

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract River discharge estimation (RDE) methods are traditionally prone to high costs, vulnerability to extreme events, and are constrained by real‐time data availability. Current remote sensing‐based RDE approaches mainly extract basic river features such as width and water surface elevation, but rarely exploit the full spectral information from ...

Authigenic Be Isotopes Record Circumpolar Deep Water Inflow and Subglacial Outflow in Antarctic Shelf Sediments

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract The Antarctic Ice Sheet (AIS) has recently undergone accelerating mass loss driven primarily by basal melting associated with Circumpolar Deep Water (CDW) inflow onto the continental shelf. However, temporal variability in CDW inflow and its role in mass loss from the AIS over longer timescales remain uncertain because the duration of the ...

Can Solar Cyclic Variability Mimic Extreme Solar Particle (Miyake) Events in Radiocarbon?

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Rapid, strong enhancements in Δ14 ${{\Delta }}^{14}$C in the Earth's atmosphere, known as Miyake events, rarely occurred over the past millennia, pointing to major radiation storms affecting Earth. They are produced by extreme solar particle events (ESPEs) and are separated by an order‐of‐magnitude gap in the strength from directly observed ...
