Mind and Cosmos as Throughput Systems: A Convergence Through the Throughput Model

open access: yesSystems Research and Behavioral Science, Volume 43, Issue 3, Page 1212-1228, May/June 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper advances a conceptual and mathematical foundations approach by applying the throughput model (TPM) to cosmic phenomena, reframing the universe as an extended information processing system. TPM's four stages, Perception, Information, Judgement and Decision Choice, are reformulated in explicit information‐theoretic and dynamical ...

Radio jets and galaxies as cosmic string probes [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers of Physics, 2011
The lensing effect of a cosmic string is studied, and some new methods are proposed to detect the cosmic string. The technique for using jets as extended gravitational lensing probes was firstly explored by Kronberg. We use the "alignment-breaking parameter" $ η_G $ as a sensitive indicator of gravitational distortion by a wiggly cosmic string.

Radiative Forcing and Ozone Depletion of a Decade of Satellite Megaconstellation Missions

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Satellite megaconstellations (SMCs) are driving rapid increases in rocket launch and re‐entry rates, emitting pollutants throughout the atmosphere. The environmental impact of SMCs lacks characterization to determine the need for regulation. We utilize a global 3D emission inventory of recent (2020–2022) space activity that distinguishes SMC ...

The May 2024 Superstorm Coronal Mass Ejections as Observed by the Psyche Gamma‐Ray and Neutron Spectrometer

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract We report new measurements of high‐energy protons ejected by the sun during the May 2024 Ganon superstorm. Our observations were made by the Neutron Spectrometer (NS) on the Psyche spacecraft, which was located at a solar distance of approximately 2 AU and a Sun‐Earth‐Probe separation angle of 75°.

The connection between jets and host galaxies of radio loud AGN: Blazars vs NLSy1s

open access: yes, 2018
This doctoral dissertation discuss the main properties of the host galaxies of those active galactic nuclei (AGN) capable of generating strong relativistic jets (and therefore, capable of emitting up to the γ−ray energy ranges) and with their jets ...

The host galaxies of AGN with powerful relativistic jets

open access: yes, 2021
We present deep Near-infrared (NIR) images of a sample of 19 intermediate-redshift (0.310^27 WHz^-1), previously classified as flat-spectrum radio quasars. We also compile host galaxy and nuclear magnitudes for blazars from literature.

Jet precession in active galaxies

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1988
The formation and evolution of massive binary black holes in galactic nuclei are studied with respect to the loss-cone filling model for the fueling of massive black holes in AGN during the final stage of galaxy mergers. A relation between the precession period of the jet and the fueling rate of the central hole has been obtained.

Jet Interactions with the Hot Halos of Clusters and Galaxies

open access: yes, 2007
X-ray observations of cavities and shock fronts produced by jets streaming through hot halos have significantly advanced our understanding of the energetics and dynamics of extragalactic radio sources. Radio sources at the centers of clusters have dynamical ages between ten and several hundred million years.

THE HIGH-EFFICIENCY JETS MAGNETICALLY ACCELERATED FROM A THIN DISK IN POWERFUL LOBE-DOMINATED FRII RADIO GALAXIES

open access: yes, 2014
A maximum jet efficiency line R similar to 25 (R = L-jet/L-bol), found in FRII radio galaxies by Fernandes et al., was extended to cover the full range of jet power by Punsly.

On the relationship between the cosmic web and the alignment of galaxies and AGN jets

open access: yes
The impact of active galactic nuclei (AGNs) on the evolution of galaxies explains the steep decrease in the number density of the most massive galaxies in the Universe.
