Kinematics and Dynamics of Galaxies in Compact Groups for a Sample of 31 Groups

open access: closedAstrophysics and Space Science, 2002
A long-term program based on Fabry-Perot Ha velocity field data of compact groups has been undertaken in order to analyse the kinematics of the compact group galaxies and the extent of their dark halos. The data are taken at the ESO and the CFH 3.6 m telescopes.

Stellar dynamics and dark matter in Local Group dwarf galaxies

Nature Astronomy, 2022
When interpreted within the standard framework of Newtonian gravity and dynamics, the kinematics of stars and gas in dwarf galaxies reveals that most of these systems are completely dominated by their dark matter halos.

Gas dynamics in dwarf galaxies as testbeds for dark matter and galaxy evolution

Nature Astronomy, 2022
Dwarf galaxies are ideal laboratories to test dark matter models and alternative theories because their dynamical mass (from observed kinematics) largely outweighs their baryonic mass (from gas and stars).

Kinematics and dynamics of the central region in the barred galaxy NGC 1365

Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 1986
On rapporte l'observation interferometrique des raies d'emission Hα de NGC 1365. On note la presence de mouvements d'ecoulement non circulaires.

DARK MATTER OR MODIFIED DYNAMICS? HINTS FROM GALAXY KINEMATICS

Dark Matter in Astrophysics and Particle Physics, 2009
I show two observational projects I am involved in, which are aimed at understanding better the existence and nature of dark matter, and also aimed at testing alternatives to galactic dark matter such as MOND (Modified Newtonian Dynamics). I present new HI observations of the nearby dwarf galaxy NGC 3741.

The Dynamics and kinematics of galaxies in the Universe's Middle Ages

The evolutionary pathways a galaxy can follow are many and varied. Across billions of years of cosmic history, galaxies can experience numerous in situ and ex situ processes, each of which can leave a mark on their internal mass distribution and stellar kinematics.
