Compliant Robotics in Space: A Prospective Review of Soft and Deformable Systems for Space Missions

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2025.
Compliant robots are increasingly becoming integral to space exploration due to their adaptability, flexibility, and lightweight design. This article reviews categories such as soft, reconfigurable, and hyper‐redundant robots and their evolving role in enhancing space missions.

A Slowly Pulsating Run‐Away B Star at High Galactic Latitude Ejected From a Spiral Arm

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, Volume 346, Issue 5, June 2025.
ABSTRACT We report the discovery of the young B6 V run‐away star LAMOST J083323.18 + 430825.4, 2.5 kpc above the Galactic plane. Its atmospheric parameters and chemical composition are determined from LAMOST spectra, indicating normal composition. Effective temperature (Teff$$ {T}_{\mathrm{eff}} $$ = 14,500$$ \mathrm{14,500} $$ K) and gravity (logg ...

SunRISE Ground Radio Lab: Monitoring Solar Radio Bursts With an Expansive Array of Antennae at High Schools Nationwide

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 12, Issue 6, June 2025.
Abstract The Sun Radio Interferometer Space Experiment (SunRISE) Ground Radio Lab (GRL) is a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) project, sponsored by NASA's SunRISE mission and organized by the University of Michigan College of Engineering. The project aims to engage and train the next generations of scholars.

Shell galaxies: kinematical signature of shells, satellite galaxy disruption and dynamical friction

open access: yes, 2013
Stellar shells observed in many giant elliptical and lenticular as well as a few spiral and dwarf galaxies presumably result from radial minor mergers of galaxies. We show that the line-of-sight velocity distribution of the shells has a quadruple-peaked shape.

Multi‐Modal Instrument Performances (MMIP): A Musical Database

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, Volume 44, Issue 2, May 2025.
Abstract Musical instrument performances are multimodal creative art forms that integrate audiovisual elements, resulting from musicians' interactions with instruments through body movements, finger actions, and facial expressions. Digitizing such performances for archiving, streaming, analysis, or synthesis requires capturing every element that shapes

From nearby to distant galaxies: kinematical and dynamical studies

open access: yes, 2009
Kinematical studies of low and high redshift galaxies enables to probe galaxy formation and evolution scenarios. Integral field spectroscopy is a powerful tool to study with accuracy nearby galaxies kinematics. Recent observations also gives a new 2D vision of high redshift galaxies kinematics.

Distribution and Dynamics of Molecular Gas in the Galaxy M51. III. Kinematics of Molecular Gas [PDF]

open access: yesPublications of the Astronomical Society of Japan, 1997
We present here a study of the dynamics of the molecular gas in the spiral galaxy M51 using CO data obtained with the Nobeyama 45-m telescope. From the distribution of the radial velocity of the CO gas, the velocity components parallel and perpendicular to the spiral arms were determined for each spiral phase.

Exploring Dark Photon Production and Kinetic Mixing Constraints in Heavy‐Ion Collisions

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, Volume 346, Issue 3-4, March-May 2025.
ABSTRACT Vector U‐bosons, often referred to as “dark photons,” are potential candidates for mediating dark matter interactions. In this study, we outline a procedure to derive theoretical constraints on the upper bound of the kinetic mixing parameter ϵ2MU$$ {\upvarepsilon}^2\left({M}_U\right) $$ using dilepton data from heavy‐ion from SIS to RHIC ...

Stochastic Quantum Mechanics in Curved Spaces: Application to Schwarzschild Black Holes

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, Volume 346, Issue 3-4, March-May 2025.
ABSTRACT In this work, we start from the hypothesis that the universe lives in a Gravitational Wave Background (GWB). From this hypothesis, it follows that space–time is not locally flat because we have to take into account the fluctuations of the GWB in space–time. This implies that sufficiently small particles will feel these oscillations, preventing
