Multi‐Modal Instrument Performances (MMIP): A Musical Database

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, Volume 44, Issue 2, May 2025.
Abstract Musical instrument performances are multimodal creative art forms that integrate audiovisual elements, resulting from musicians' interactions with instruments through body movements, finger actions, and facial expressions. Digitizing such performances for archiving, streaming, analysis, or synthesis requires capturing every element that shapes

Exploring Dark Photon Production and Kinetic Mixing Constraints in Heavy‐Ion Collisions

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, Volume 346, Issue 3-4, March-May 2025.
ABSTRACT Vector U‐bosons, often referred to as “dark photons,” are potential candidates for mediating dark matter interactions. In this study, we outline a procedure to derive theoretical constraints on the upper bound of the kinetic mixing parameter ϵ2MU$$ {\upvarepsilon}^2\left({M}_U\right) $$ using dilepton data from heavy‐ion from SIS to RHIC ...

Stochastic Quantum Mechanics in Curved Spaces: Application to Schwarzschild Black Holes

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, Volume 346, Issue 3-4, March-May 2025.
ABSTRACT In this work, we start from the hypothesis that the universe lives in a Gravitational Wave Background (GWB). From this hypothesis, it follows that space–time is not locally flat because we have to take into account the fluctuations of the GWB in space–time. This implies that sufficiently small particles will feel these oscillations, preventing

JWST Imaging of the Closest Globular Clusters—V. The White Dwarfs Cooling Sequence of M4

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, Volume 346, Issue 2, February 2025.
ABSTRACT We combine infrared (IR) observations collected by the James Webb Space Telescope with optical deep images by the Hubble Space Telescope taken ~20 years earlier to compute proper‐motion membership for the globular cluster (GC) M4 (NGC 6121) along its entire white dwarf (WD) cooling sequence (CS).

Distribution and Dynamics of Molecular Gas in the Galaxy M51. III. Kinematics of Molecular Gas [PDF]

open access: yesPublications of the Astronomical Society of Japan, 1997
We present here a study of the dynamics of the molecular gas in the spiral galaxy M51 using CO data obtained with the Nobeyama 45-m telescope. From the distribution of the radial velocity of the CO gas, the velocity components parallel and perpendicular to the spiral arms were determined for each spiral phase.

Revisiting Variable Stars Near Globular Clusters South of −29° Declination

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, Volume 346, Issue 2, February 2025.
ABSTRACT We review an often‐cited but seldom‐accessed catalogue by Fourcade and Laborde (1966) of 785 variable stars near 47 southern Galactic globular clusters, and recover the locations of 85 stars that were not incorporated into subsequent variable star catalogues and hence have become “lost” to the literature.

Riemann Solitons on Homogeneous Siklos Spacetimes

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
In this paper, we investigate the properties of Riemann solitons on homogeneous Siklos spacetimes. Siklos spacetimes, which are special solutions to Einstein’s equations with a wave‐like potential, provide a suitable setting for studying the geometric properties of Riemann solitons.

The effect of vorticity on the feeding of a freshwater grazer

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 69, Issue S1, Page S54-S66, December 2024.
Abstract The transfer of energy through zooplankton grazing on phytoplankton is one of the most important interactions in aquatic ecosystems, yet the role of hydrodynamic forces is not fully understood. Factors that influence these interactions include algal size and shape and the interactions between grazer and alga dictated by hydrodynamic forces ...

Material Testing for Physicists: Unraveling the Dissipative Nature of Silicone Elastomers via Ball Drop Testing

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 309, Issue 10, October 2024.
Soft materials such as silicone elastomers are ideal for stretchable electronics and soft robotics. A simple and cheap ball drop test allows the determination of their properties focusing on damping. By monitoring the ball's impact and trajectory, parameters such as Young's modulus, reduced modulus, rebound resilience, and loss tangent are extracted ...

From nearby to distant galaxies: kinematical and dynamical studies

open access: yes, 2009
Kinematical studies of low and high redshift galaxies enables to probe galaxy formation and evolution scenarios. Integral field spectroscopy is a powerful tool to study with accuracy nearby galaxies kinematics. Recent observations also gives a new 2D vision of high redshift galaxies kinematics.
