Abstract We present James Webb Space Telescope observations of the globular cluster NGC 6397 and use them to extend to infrared wavelengths the characterization of the cluster's entire white dwarf (WD) cooling sequence (CS). The data allows us to probe fundamental astrophysical WD properties and to search for evidence in their colors for (or against ...

Multimodal Human–Robot Interaction for Human‐Centric Smart Manufacturing: A Survey
This article presents a survey of multimodal human–robot interaction (HRI), focusing on modalities of vision, auditory and language, haptics, and physiological sensing. It encompasses an analysis of algorithms, interfaces, and applications and uniquely integrates multimodal HRI with cognitive science to explore the underlying mechanisms.

Abstract We develop a new version of the causal theory of spacetime. Whereas traditional versions of the theory seek to identify spatiotemporal relations with causal relations, the version we develop takes causal relations to be the grounds for spatiotemporal relations. Causation is thus distinct from, and more basic than, spacetime. We argue that this

From nearby to distant galaxies: kinematical and dynamical studies
Kinematical studies of low and high redshift galaxies enables to probe galaxy formation and evolution scenarios. Integral field spectroscopy is a powerful tool to study with accuracy nearby galaxies kinematics. Recent observations also gives a new 2D vision of high redshift galaxies kinematics.

Dynamics of Cylindrical Collapse in Palatini Gravity
This research explores how filamentary objects behave when they collapse in the presence of exotic material. To accomplish this, we employ Palatini (R, T) theory as a candidate for exotic material. We derive the collapsing equation by enforcing the Darmois junction condition on the collapsed surface boundary. At this boundary, we obtain that the radial

Shell galaxies: kinematical signature of shells, satellite galaxy disruption and dynamical friction
Stellar shells observed in many giant elliptical and lenticular as well as a few spiral and dwarf galaxies presumably result from radial minor mergers of galaxies. We show that the line-of-sight velocity distribution of the shells has a quadruple-peaked shape.

Deep Kinematics and Dynamics of Edge-on S0 Galaxies. I. NGC 3115
As a first step of a program aimed to the detection of dark matter (or radial variations of M/L) in early-type galaxies, we report deep spectroscopic observations of the bulge-dominated edge-on S0 galaxy NGC 3115, made at ESO, La Silla, using EFOSC at the 3.6m telescope and EMMI at NTT.

The dynamics of the dE galaxy FS76 : bridging the kinematic dichotomy between Es and dEs
We present major and minor axis kinematics out to 2 half-light radii for the bright (M_B=-16.7) dwarf elliptical FS76, a member of the NGC5044 group. Its velocity dispersion is 46 \pm 2 km/s in the center and rises to 70 \pm 10 km/s at half-light radius. Beyond 1R_e the dispersion starts to fall again.
