Quasars around the Seyfert Galaxy NGC 3516 [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1998
We report redshift measurements of 5 X-ray emitting blue stellar objects (BSO's) located less than 12 arc min from the X-ray Seyfert galaxy, NGC 3516. We find these quasars to be distributed along the minor axis of the galaxy and to show a very good correlation between their redshift and their angular distance from NGC 3516.

Chemical evolution of Seyfert galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2007
AbstractWe computed the chemical evolution of Seyfert galaxies, residing in spiral bulges, based on an updated model for the Milky Way bulge with updated calculations of the Galactic potential and of the feedback from the central supermassive black hole (BH) in a spherical approximation. We followed the evolution of bulges of masses 2 × 109 − 1011M⊙ by

Steep Spectrum Seyfert Galaxies

open access: yes, 1996
Seyfert-type AGN that exhibit unusually strong and steep soft X-ray spectra are reviewed, building on observations made during the ROSAT all-sky survey. Two individual cases are described in brief detail, both being identified initially in the small sample of Seyferts detected in the Wide Field Camera (WFC) survey.

EVN observations of Seyfert galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of The 9th European VLBI Network Symposium on The role of VLBI in the Golden Age for Radio Astronomy and EVN Users Meeting — PoS(IX EVN Symposium), 2009
In this contribution, we report on dual-frequency EVN observations of six nuclei of Seyfert galaxies imaged previously at arcsecond resolution with the VLA. These galaxies are part of a distancelimited sample of Seyferts, for which VLBI observations are available only for the brightest objects.

New Infrared Seyfert Galaxies

open access: yes, 1998
We present optical spectra for new infrared Seyfert galaxies obtained with the 2.16m telescope at Beijing Astronomical Observatory (BAO). After wavelength and flux calibration, they are classified by the degree of nuclear activity: nine Seyfert 2 and three Seyfert 3 galaxies.

COMPTEL upper limits for Seyfert galaxies

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 1994
The gamma‐ray emission of Seyfert galaxies has fallen far short of pre‐GRO expectations. No single object of this class has been detected by either COMPTEL or EGRET, and OSSE has detected only a fraction of the Seyferts expected. To derive a more stringent upper limit to the emission from these objects in the energy ranges 0.75 to 1 and 1 to 3 MeV, we ...
