Statistics of Radio Galaxy Populations and Galaxy Formation

1989
The radio luminosity functions of radio-loud quasars and elliptical radio galaxies appear identical above P2.7GHz ≃ 1025 WHz−1sr−1 — both quasars & galaxies displaying a ‘redshift cutoff’ at z ≳ 2. This result may well reflect the collapse epoch of massive galaxies, rather than that of the groups/clusters in which these objects reside.

Statistics of Seyfert Galaxies in Clusters

2001
Cross correlation between the ACO cluster sample and the AGN catalogue by Veron-Cetty & Veron (2000) indicates that as much as 9% of all nearby Seyfert galaxies might be physical cluster members. The fraction reduces to ≈ 3%, when membership in the central Abell radius is demanded.

Statistical properties of galaxy clusters

Astronomische Nachrichten, 2008
AbstractGalaxy clusters are important probes to test cosmological models and interesting large‐scale laboratories for astrophysical phenomena. For both applications a precise knowledge of global cluster properties, especially their mass is important.

Statistical Mechanics and Galaxy Clustering

2003
Even before astronomers knew that galaxies existed, they found that they are clustered. Though this statement may seem contradictory, it is not quite as contradictory as it seems. In compiling his famous catalog of nebulae, Messier (1781) noticed that about a dozen of his hundred or so objects were clumped together in the constellation of Virgo.

Statistical Properties of IRAS Galaxies

1986
Statistical approaches to the study of galaxies seen by IRAS are reviewed, stressing the contrast between infrared complete and optically complete samples. A statistical overview is given of the Cataloged Galaxies and Quasars Observed in the IRAS Survey.
