Environmental dependence of stellar velocity dispersion in the Main galaxy sample of SDSS DR10

open access: yesOpen Physics, 2014
The aim of this work is to examine the environmental dependence of stellar velocity dispersion in local galaxies. In studies that likely suffer from the radial selection effect, one has a preference for the use of volumelimited samples.

Co‐occurrence and successional patterns among diatoms, dinoflagellates, and potential parasites in a coastal upwelling experiment

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, EarlyView.
Abstract Diatom‐dominated blooms in coastal upwelling systems contribute disproportionately to global primary production. The fate of carbon captured during a diatom bloom is often influenced by species‐specific ecological differences. However, successional patterns that take place during a diatom bloom are often oversimplified, and the diversity of ...

Suppression of Star Formation in Galaxy Pairs [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We investigate the suppression of star formation in galaxy pairs based on the isolated galaxy pair sample derived from the SDSS survey. By comparing the star formation rate between late-type galaxies in galaxy pairs and those in the isolated environment, we detect the signal of star formation suppression in galaxy pairs at $d_p < 100$kpc and $200$kpc$ <

Anti‐Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Bacteriophage Loaded Electrospun Fibers for Antibacterial Wound Dressings

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Multidrug resistant Pseudomonas (P.) aeruginosa is detected in many infected wounds and is challenging to treat with antibiotics. As an alternative, this work incorporates anti‐P. aeruginosa Neko phages into electrospun fibres to explore their potential for treating infected wounds.

Facilitating learning in immersive virtual reality: Segmentation, summarizing, both or none?

open access: yesJournal of Computer Assisted Learning, Volume 39, Issue 1, Page 218-230, February 2023., 2023
Abstract Introduction This study investigates the effectiveness of the segmentation principle from the cognitive theory of multimedia learning as well as the effectiveness of the generative learning strategy of summarization in immersive virtual reality (IVR) within a sample of preadolescents.

Are galaxies extending?

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2009
It is suggested that the recently observed size evolution of very massive compact galaxies in the early universe can be explained, if dark matter is in Bose Einstein condensate. In this model the size of the dark matter halos and galaxies depends on the correlation length of dark matter and, hence, on the the expansion of the universe.
