The Quorum Sensing Regulated sRNA Lrs1 Is Involved in the Adaptation to Low Iron in Pseudomonas aeruginosa

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 2, April 2025.
The quorum sensing regulated sRNA Lrs1 participates in the adaptation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in low iron by downregulating the siderophore pyochelin, the Quorum Sensing system PQS, and its associated virulence factor phenazines. ABSTRACT Iron is an essential nutrient for microbial growth. The opportunistic pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa can survive

Figuring Out Gas and Galaxies In Enzo (FOGGIE). VIII. Complex and Stochastic Metallicity Gradients at z > 2

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Gas-phase metallicity gradients are a crucial element in understanding the chemical evolution of galaxies. We use the FOGGIE simulations to study the metallicity gradients (∇ Z ) of six Milky Way–like galaxies throughout their evolution.

Stellar Abundances in Local Group Galaxies with the VLT [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
Here we describe some of our latest results from measuring detailed abundances in Local Group dwarf galaxies with VLT. Combining spectroscopic abundances with Colour-Magnitude diagrams allows the effective measurement of detailed chemical evolution with time in these galaxies.

Review of asteroid, meteor, and meteorite‐type links

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 60, Issue 4, Page 928-973, April 2025.
Abstract With the goal to determine the origin of our meteorites in the asteroid belt, video and photographic observations of meteors have now tracked 75 meteorite falls. Six years ago, there were just hints that different meteorite types arrived on different orbits, but now, the number of orbits (N) is high enough for distinct patterns to emerge.

XMM Observations of Metal Abundances in Galaxy Clusters

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2011
The hot gas that fills the space between galaxies in clusters is rich in metals. Due to their large potential well, galaxy clusters accumulate metals over the whole history of the cluster, and retain important information on cluster formation and ...

Abundances as Tracers of the Formation and Evolution of (Dwarf) Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
This aims to be an overview of what detailed observations of individual stars in nearby dwarf galaxies may teach us about galaxy evolution. This includes some early results from the DART (Dwarf Abundances and Radial velocity Team) Large Programme at ESO.

A Systematic Review of Alternative Host Species of Phytophthora erythroseptica, the Major Causal Agent of Pink Rot of Potato

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 74, Issue 3, Page 605-640, April 2025.
The literature cites many alternative hosts of Phytophthora erythroseptica. However, evidence of host status is often insufficient, thus a polyphasic approach (morphological, molecular, histological and pathogenicity) is required. ABSTRACT Most published studies of Phytophthora erythroseptica, the major causal agent of pink rot of potato, have focused ...

Two-process Model and Residual Abundance Analysis of the Milky Way Massive Satellites

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The “two-process model” is a promising technique for interpreting stellar chemical abundance data from large-scale surveys (e.g., the Sloan Digital Sky Survey IV/V and the Galactic Archeology with HERMES survey), enabling more quantitative empirical ...
