Iron Snails: Nonequilibrium Dynamics and Spiral Abundance Patterns

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Galaxies are not in a dynamical steady state: they continually undergo perturbations, e.g., from infalling dwarf galaxies and dark matter substructure. After a dynamical perturbation, stars phase mix toward a new steady state; in so doing, they generally

Chloroplast genome of the critically endangered Ginger Zingiber odoriferum Blume from Java, Indonesia: characterization, comparison, and conservation insights

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, Volume 2025, Issue 12, December 2025.
Zingiber odoriferum (Zingiberaceae), a critically endangered ginger species endemic to Java, Indonesia, is ecologically vital yet genomically understudied. We present the first complete chloroplast (cp) genome (163 538 bp), revealing a quadripartite structure with a large single‐copy region (88 033 bp), a small single‐copy region (15 885 bp), and a ...

The High-Redshift Gas-Phase Mass–Metallicity Relation in FIRE-2

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
The unprecedented infrared spectroscopic capabilities of JWST have provided high-quality interstellar medium metallicity measurements and enabled characterization of the gas-phase mass–metallicity relation (MZR) for galaxies at z ≳ 5 for the first time ...

Oxychlorine Species on Mars: A Review

open access: yesReviews of Geophysics, Volume 63, Issue 4, December 2025.
Abstract Oxychlorine species (mainly perchlorate and chlorate) have been identified at multiple locations on the surface of Mars by both orbiter and in situ rovers. They have also been found in martian meteorites. Cl‐isotopes in meteoritic minerals suggest that an oxychlorine cycle has been operating on the martian surface for the last ∼4 billion years.

XMM Observations of Metal Abundances in Galaxy Clusters

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2011
The hot gas that fills the space between galaxies in clusters is rich in metals. Due to their large potential well, galaxy clusters accumulate metals over the whole history of the cluster, and retain important information on cluster formation and ...

Searching for Emission Lines at z > 11: The Role of Damped Lyα and Hints About the Escape of Ionizing Photons

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We describe new ultradeep James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) NIRSpec PRISM and grating spectra for the galaxies JADES-GS-z11-0 ( ${z}_{\mathrm{spec}}={11.122}_{-0.003}^{+0.005}$ ) and JADES-GS-z13-0 ( ${z}_{\mathrm{spec}}={13.20}_{-0.04}^{+0.03}$ ), the ...
