Nonlinear cosmogony of the spiral galaxy bulges

open access: yesOpen Astronomy, 2021
In this paper, we develop an early idea of one of the authors (Nuritdinov 1992a,b), who was the first to propose the mechanism of instability of the warp perturbation mode on the background of a nonstationary disk.

An Investigation into the Prominence of Spiral Galaxy Bulges [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomical Journal, 2001
From a diameter-limited sample of 86 `face-on' spiral galaxies, the bulge-to-disk size and luminosity ratios, and other quantitative measurements for the prominence of the bulge are derived. The bulge and disk parameters have been estimated using a seeing convolved Sersic r^(1/n) bulge and a seeing convolved exponential disk.

The Carnegie-Irvine Galaxy Survey. X. Bulges in Stellar Mass–based Scaling Relations

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal, Supplement Series, 2022
We measure optical colors for the bulges of 312 disk galaxies from the Carnegie-Irvine Galaxy Survey and convert their previously available R -band structural parameters to stellar-mass parameters.

Revisiting the Surface Brightness Profile of the Stellar Disk with the Statistical Mechanics of the Self-Gravitating System with the Central Body [PDF]

open access: yesEntropy
We have explored the exponential surface brightness profile (SBP) of stellar disks, a topic extensively discussed by many authors yet seldom integrated with the study of correlations between black holes, bulges, and entire disks.

A Duality in the Origin of Bulges and Spheroidal Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2021
Abstract Studying the resolved stellar populations of the different structural components that build massive galaxies directly unveils their assembly history. We aim at characterizing the stellar population properties of a representative sample of bulges and pure spheroids in massive galaxies (M ⋆ > 1010

Colour Gradients in Galaxy Bulges [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1993
Colour gradients, when due to stellar populations rather than dust, are potential diagnostics on the formation history of galaxy bulges. We have carried out measurements of colour gradients on a sample of 30 bulges, the first such study using CCD detectors.

Red galaxies with pseudo-bulges in the SDSS: closer to disc galaxies or to classical bulges? [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2016
Pseudo-bulges are expected to markedly differ from classical, quasi-monolithically forming bulges in their star formation history (SFH) and chemical abundance patterns. To test this simple expectation, we carry out a comparative structural and spectral synthesis analysis of 106 red, massive galaxies issued from the SDSS, subdivided into bulgeless ...

A Multiwavelength Investigation of Dust and Stellar Mass Distributions in Galaxies: Insights from High-resolution JWST Imaging

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We study the morphological properties of mid-infrared selected galaxies at 1.0 < z < 1.7 in the SMACS J0723.3-7327 cluster field to investigate the mechanisms of galaxy mass assembly and structural formation at cosmic noon.
