An ATP‐Mediated Antibiotic β‐Peptide Nanofiber That Kills Multidrug‐Resistant Bacteria via a Multistage Mechanism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The 3K‐AP system forms infinite supramolecular fibrils that undergo controlled degradation into shorter fragments upon enzymatic hydrolysis. Multitechnique imaging reveals a stepwise bacteriolytic mechanism involving bacterial entrapment, disassembly into lethal constructs, and associated extracellular vesicle release, highlighting the dynamic ...

The Shocking Features in the Closest Rich Galaxy Cluster Norma

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The merger shocks generated by the collision of galaxy clusters elevate the pressure within the intracluster medium, significantly influencing the evolution of embedded cluster galaxies.

The Hubble constant from galaxy cluster scaling-relation and SNe Ia observations: a consistency test

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2023
In this paper, we propose a self-consistent test for a Hubble constant estimate using galaxy cluster and type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) observations. The approach consists, in a first step, of obtaining the observational value of the galaxy cluster scaling ...

Velocity Dispersion of 335 Galaxy Clusters Selected from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey: Statistical Evidence for Dynamical Interaction, and Against Ram-Pressure Stripping

open access: yes, 2005
There has been plenty of observational evidence of cluster galaxy evolution. However, it has been difficult to identify the origin of the cluster galaxy evolution. Here we show that gravitational interaction/friction between galaxies is the statistically

Type Ia Supernovae Rates and Galaxy Clustering from the CFHT Supernova Legacy Survey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope Supernova Legacy Survey (SNLS) has created a large homogeneous database of intermediate redshift (0.2 < z < 1.0) type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia).

SHOCK HEATING OF THE MERGING GALAXY CLUSTER A521 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A521 is an interacting galaxy cluster located at z = 0.247, hosting a low-frequency radio halo connected to an eastern radio relic. Previous Chandra observations hinted at the presence of an X-ray brightness edge at the position of the relic, which may ...

Seedless One‐Pot Synthesis of Colloidal InAs Quantum Dots Enabling a High‐Accuracy Photoplethysmography Oximeter

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A real‐time, non‐contact photoplethysmography (PPG) system based on InAs colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) synthesized via a seedless injection synthesis is demonstrated. The measured oxygen saturation shows considerable agreement with commercial PPG devices.

The extended ROSAT-ESO flux limited X-ray galaxy cluster survey (REFLEX II) II. Construction and properties of the survey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Context. Galaxy clusters provide unique laboratories to study astrophysical processes on large scales and are important probes for cosmology. X-ray observations are currently the best means of detecting and characterizing galaxy clusters.

The Geography of Success: A Spatial Analysis of Export Intensity in the Italian Wine Industry

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper investigates the paradox of how Italy's fragmented, SME‐dominated wine industry achieves global export success. Moving beyond purely firm‐centric explanations, we test whether export intensity is spatially dependent, clustering geographically in regional ecosystems.
