Year‐round spawning increases throughput of genetic modification of common carp (Cyprinus carpio)
Abstract The common carp (Cyprinus carpio) is an economically and ecologically significant species. It is both one of the most highly produced fish in aquaculture globally and a persistent, widespread invasive species. Research efforts focused on understanding its biology, improving traits for aquaculture, and generating next‐generation carp control ...

Abstract Amorphous carbon (αC) is found in various extraterrestrial particles, including those thought to originate from the outer Solar System. αC can form through two main processes involving C‐rich materials: exposure to energetic charged particles and thermal processing.

Nanoscale space weathering features in mature lunar soil revealed by TEM and APT
Abstract Space weathering significantly alters the optical, chemical, and structural properties of lunar regolith at micro‐ and nanoscales; yet detailed nanoscale variability within individual soils remains underexplored. Here we apply transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and atom probe tomography to four mineral grains (olivine, ilmenite, and two ...

Galaxy subgroups in galaxy clusters
Galaxies which fall into clusters as part of the same infall halo can retain correlations due to their shared origin. N-body simulations are used to study properties of such galaxy subgroups within clusters, including their richnesses and prevalence.

Galaxies and Clusters of Galaxies
1987Numerous galaxies similar to our own can be observed at distances far beyond the boundaries of our Galaxy. Sometimes they are referred to as “extragalactic nebulae” because they look like faint nebulae when seen through small telescopes. Consequently they were initially given names such as the “Magellanic Clouds”, the “Andromeda nebula” and so forth.

The Origin of Galaxies and Clusters of Galaxies
Science, 1984Debate on how galaxies and clusters of galaxies formed has reached an interesting stage at which one can find arguments for quite different scenarios. The galaxy distribution has a complex "frothy" character that could be the fossil of a network of protoclusters or pancakes that produced galaxies.

Galaxies and Clusters of Galaxies
2002The leap into deep space outside our Milky Way Galaxy, into the realm of the distant galaxies (or the extragalactic nebulae, as they were formerly called), and the beginnings of a cosmology based on observations, will be considered throughout history to be one of the most important achievements of the 20th century.

Evolution of Clusters of Galaxies
Publications of the Astronomical Society of Japan, 1993Abstract We have investigated the evolution of clusters of galaxies using direct N-body simulations in which each galaxy is modeled by many particles. We found that the positive correlation between the masses and the distances of galaxies from the center of a cluster develops as the result of perturbations due to close encounters with ...
