Clusters of Galaxies

1983
The subject of this school, ‘The Origin and Evolution of Galaxies’, should include ‘Clusters of Galaxies’ in the title! Not only is galaxy clustering an essential aspect of the galaxy formation process, but I shall show that there is considerable evidence that galaxy morphology is not independent of is cluster environment.

Clusters of galaxies

2001
Clusters and groups of galaxies are now recognized to be fundamental constituents of the Universe. According to modern theory, most of the material in the Universe that has collapsed into coherent structures lies in groups of galaxies, while clusters are the only entities in the Universe that should be representative of the Universe as a whole.
