Galaxy Clusters Selected via the Sunyaev–Zel’dovich Effect in the SPTpol 100-square-degree Survey [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomical Journal, 2019
We present a catalog of galaxy cluster candidates detected in 100 square degrees surveyed with the SPTpol receiver on the South Pole Telescope. The catalog contains 89 candidates detected with a signal-to-noise ratio greater than 4.6.

Magnetic Field Amplification in Galaxy Clusters and Its Simulation [PDF]

open access: yesSpace Science Reviews, 2018
We review the present theoretical and numerical understanding of magnetic field amplification in cosmic large-scale structure, on length scales of galaxy clusters and beyond.

The Three Hundred project: a large catalogue of theoretically modelled galaxy clusters for cosmological and astrophysical applications [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2018
We introduce the THE THREE HUNDRED project, an endeavour to model 324 large galaxy clusters with full-physics hydrodynamical re-simulations. Here we present the data set and study the differences to observations for fundamental galaxy cluster properties ...

Impact of Salmonella genome rearrangement on gene expression

open access: yesEvolution Letters, Volume 6, Issue 6, Page 426-437, December 2022., 2022
Abstract In addition to nucleotide variation, many bacteria also undergo changes at a much larger scale via rearrangement of their genome structure (GS) around long repeat sequences. These rearrangements result in genome fragments shifting position and/or orientation in the genome without necessarily affecting the underlying nucleotide sequence.

Clusters of Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesHighlights of Astronomy, 1977
AbstractClusters and groups of galaxies contain the majority of galaxies in the universe. The rich clusters, while less numerous than the many poor groups, are the densest and largest systems known, and can be easily recognized and studied even at relatively large distances.

Targeted decrease of portal hepatic pressure gradient improves ascites control after TIPS

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
The river diagram demonstrates that after transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt insertion (TIPS) the majority of patients without ascites and 50% of the patients with ascites detectable at ultrasound, show the best response in the long term follow‐up.

Janus kinase 2 inhibition by pacritinib as potential therapeutic target for liver fibrosis

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Diagram of the activation of the profibrotic and procontractile Janus kinase 2 (JAK2)/Ras homolog family member A/Rho‐kinase pathway and the inhibition of phosphorylated JAK2 by pacritinib to inhibit hepatic stellate cell activity. Abstract Background and Aims Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) signaling is increased in human and experimental liver fibrosis with ...

Accretion of galaxy groups into galaxy clusters [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2020
ABSTRACT We study the role of group infall in the assembly and dynamics of galaxy clusters in ΛCDM. We select 10 clusters with virial mass M200 ∼ 1014 $\rm M_\odot$ from the cosmological hydrodynamical simulation Illustris and follow their galaxies with stellar mass M⋆ ≥ 1.5 × 108 $\rm M_\odot$.

Alignment of galaxies and clusters [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2008
We investigated the influence of environment on cluster galaxies by examining the alignment of the brightest cluster galaxy (BCG) position angle with respect to the host cluster X-ray position angle. The cluster position angles were measured using high spatial resolution X-ray data taken from the Chandra ACIS archive, that significantly improved the ...

COSMOLOGICAL CONSTRAINTS FROM GALAXY CLUSTERS IN THE 2500 SQUARE-DEGREE SPT-SZ SURVEY [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We present cosmological parameter constraints obtained from galaxy clusters identified by their Sunyaev–Zel’dovich effect signature in the 2500 square-degree South Pole Telescope Sunyaev Zel’dovich (SPT-SZ) survey.
