A Comparative Study of VTEC Estimates Derived From S/X VLBI and VGOS Observations

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract The ionosphere, which strongly varies in time and space, is one of the largest error sources for microwave measurements, if not accounted for accurately. Especially for single‐frequency observations, precise ionospheric models are needed to correct for the ionospheric delays. This study explores the utility of Very Long Baseline Interferometry

Relevance of Murchison Widefield Array Interplanetary Scintillation Observations to Heliospheric Transient Catalogs

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract We have conducted a comprehensive comparison of interplanetary scintillation (IPS) observations taken by the Murchison Widefield Array (MWA) with several heliospheric transient event catalogs, over a time period of 7 months during solar minimum.

Pathogenic Characteristics of Shrimp Early Mortality Syndrome (EMS)‐Causing Vibrio parahaemolyticus: A Comparative Transcriptomic Study Suggests the Relationship Between Metabolic Fitness and Virulence Gene Expression

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 6, December 2025.
To understand the disease‐causing characteristics of Vibrio parahaemolyticus in shrimp EMS, this comparative gene expression study analysed pathogenic (AHPND 5HP and non‐AHPND 2HP) and non‐pathogenic (S02) strains. Pathogenic strains shared similar expression profiles, distinct from the non‐pathogen.

Variations of the Virome in Raw and Treated Water: A One‐Year Follow‐Up at Six Different Drinking Water Treatment Plants

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 6, December 2025.
This paper describes monitoring of outgoing water from drinking water treatment plants, geographically spread over half of Sweden and sampled every other month for 1 year. We found differences in the virome from the different water sources from each plant as well as differences in virus size and seasonal variation, where we also could detect viruses in

Groundwater Microbial Diversity Associated With Icelandic Basaltic Subsurface Environments

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 6, December 2025.
Overview of microbial diversity and environmental drivers in Icelandic deep basaltic aquifers. Using 16S rRNA gene metabarcoding across 22 geothermal wells spanning broad temperature, pH, and bedrock‐age gradients, the study reveals distinct bacterial and archaeal community structures shaped by temperature, pH, and host‐rock reactivity.

Deep Learning for Detecting Dental Plaque and Gingivitis From Oral Photographs: A Systematic Review

open access: yesCommunity Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology, Volume 53, Issue 6, Page 617-632, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Objectives This systematic review aimed to evaluate the performance of deep learning (DL) models in detecting dental plaque and gingivitis from red, green, and blue (RGB) intraoral photographs. Methods A comprehensive literature search was conducted across Medline, Scopus, Embase, and Web of Science databases up to January 31, 2025.
