Dissipation of AGN Jets in a Clumpy Interstellar Medium

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Accreting supermassive black holes frequently power jets that interact with the interstellar medium (ISM)/circumgalactic medium, regulating star formation in the galaxy.

On the Role of Electron Precipitation in Excess Radiation Doses Measured at Aviation Altitudes

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Radiation from space in the form of galactic cosmic rays (GCRs) generates a persistent background of ionizing radiation in Earth's atmosphere. The dose rate of ionizing radiation due to GCRs increases from sea level to aviation altitudes.

Powerful Outflows of Compact Radio Galaxies

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Gigahertz peaked spectrum (GPS) and compact steep spectrum (CSS) sources are compact radio galaxies (RGs), with jets extending up to 20 kpc and ages

AGN Feedback Signatures in UV Emission

open access: yesGalaxies
Supermassive black holes (SMBH) are believed to influence galaxy evolution through AGN (active galactic nuclei) feedback. Galaxy mergers are key processes of galaxy formation that lead to AGN activity and star formation.

Computers in Our Cosmos: Intersections in Geographies of Care, Abolition Geographies and Worker Movements

open access: yesTransactions of the Institute of British Geographers, Volume 51, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT AI assistants on spacecrafts. Netflix streamed through inter‐planetary communication networks. Colonies on Mars by 2050. While the glamorous public–private ventures into outer space curate discussions on the technical specificities of these proposed projects, this paper reorients discussions on such developments through critical frameworks of ...

First Detection of γ-Ray Emission from the Compact Symmetric Object JVAS J1311+1658

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We report the first detection of γ -ray emission from the young radio galaxy JVAS J1311+1658, classified as a compact symmetric object (CSO). This detection is characterized by a recent GeV γ -ray flare identified in Fermi-Large Area Telescope data ...

An ATP‐Mediated Antibiotic β‐Peptide Nanofiber That Kills Multidrug‐Resistant Bacteria via a Multistage Mechanism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 28, 18 May 2026.
The 3K‐AP system forms infinite supramolecular fibrils that undergo controlled degradation into shorter fragments upon enzymatic hydrolysis. Multitechnique imaging reveals a stepwise bacteriolytic mechanism involving bacterial entrapment, disassembly into lethal constructs, and associated extracellular vesicle release, highlighting the dynamic ...

Relativistic jets in narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies. New discoveries and open questions

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
Before the launch of the Fermi satellite only two classes of AGNs were known to produce relativistic jets and thus emit up to the γ-ray energy range: blazars and radio galaxies, both hosted in giant elliptical galaxies.

Radio jets and galaxies as cosmic string probes [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers of Physics, 2011
The lensing effect of a cosmic string is studied, and some new methods are proposed to detect the cosmic string. The technique for using jets as extended gravitational lensing probes was firstly explored by Kronberg. We use the "alignment-breaking parameter" $ η_G $ as a sensitive indicator of gravitational distortion by a wiggly cosmic string.

Mind and Cosmos as Throughput Systems: A Convergence Through the Throughput Model

open access: yesSystems Research and Behavioral Science, Volume 43, Issue 3, Page 1212-1228, May/June 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper advances a conceptual and mathematical foundations approach by applying the throughput model (TPM) to cosmic phenomena, reframing the universe as an extended information processing system. TPM's four stages, Perception, Information, Judgement and Decision Choice, are reformulated in explicit information‐theoretic and dynamical ...
