ABSTRACT As human activities drive biodiversity decline, effective biomonitoring is more crucial than ever to track species distribution changes and inform conservation and restoration actions. Environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding has emerged as a promising tool for the simultaneous detection of multiple taxa. However, while substrates play a crucial

NIR/Optical Selected Local Mergers --- Spatial Density and sSFR Enhancement [PDF]
Mergers play important roles in triggering the most active objects in the universe, including (U)LIRGs and QSOs. However, whether they are also important for the total stellar mass build-up in galaxies in general is unclear and controversial.

ABSTRACT Quaternary climatic fluctuations had a substantial influence on ecosystems, species distribution, phenology and genetic diversity, driving extinction, adaptation and demographic shifts during glacial periods and postglacial expansions. Integration of genomic data and environmental niche modelling can provide valuable insights on how organisms ...

A Luminous X-Ray Active Galactic Nucleus in the Dwarf–Dwarf Galaxy Merger RGG 66
We present the discovery of a luminous X-ray active galactic nucleus (AGN) in the dwarf galaxy merger RGG 66. The black hole is predicted to have a mass of M _BH ∼ 10 ^5.4 M _⊙ and to be radiating close to its Eddington limit ( L _bol / L _Edd ∼ 0.75 ...

The Baryon Cycle In Galaxy Mergers
Galaxy mergers are well known to dramatically alter not only morphology and structure, but also the internal constituents of galaxies. In this talk I will focus on the baryon cycle within galaxy mergers, whereby gas is converted to stars, which ultimately enriches the ISM with metals. I will present new results that combine measurements of both neutral

The Role of galaxy mergers in the evolution of massive galaxies
This Thesis presents a study of the nature of the different stages of galaxy mergers that lead to the formation of massive galaxies. In particular we look into the properties of infrared bright mergers, spheroidal post-mergers and star-forming early-types and how their properties compare and contrast with the properties of regular late and early-type ...

Cell‐Surface LAMP1 is a Senescence Marker in Aging and Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis
We have validated the selective upregulation of LAMP1 in SEN in culture, and the percentage of Lamp1+ cells increases in various tissues with age, as well as in fibrotic lungs following BLM instillation. The RNA‐Sequencing analysis of the Lamp1‐enriched populations confirmed the enrichment of senescence‐related genes.

“Professional politicians” have been lamented for their perceived negative impact on representative democracy. However, the concept of “political professionalisation” is deployed inconsistently, making these claims difficult to assess. This article develops a framework to measure professionalisation across two dimensions: career professionalisation ...
