Retracted: Can the chemical industry solve the climate change? On the role of human energy production, renewable energies, and the potential of chemistry as a solution provider

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView., 2023
Let us consider an alternative perspective on climate change: The sum of solar radiation and heat generated by human activity result in a net energy input of 1.96 times that of the Sun on the Earth's surface. The expanding global population is expected to exacerbate this issue. Potential solutions are proposed, including replacement and heat recycling.

Targeted decrease of portal hepatic pressure gradient improves ascites control after TIPS

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
The river diagram demonstrates that after transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt insertion (TIPS) the majority of patients without ascites and 50% of the patients with ascites detectable at ultrasound, show the best response in the long term follow‐up.

Janus kinase 2 inhibition by pacritinib as potential therapeutic target for liver fibrosis

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Diagram of the activation of the profibrotic and procontractile Janus kinase 2 (JAK2)/Ras homolog family member A/Rho‐kinase pathway and the inhibition of phosphorylated JAK2 by pacritinib to inhibit hepatic stellate cell activity. Abstract Background and Aims Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) signaling is increased in human and experimental liver fibrosis with ...

The Dragonfly Galaxy. III. Jet Brightening of a High-redshift Radio Source Caught in a Violent Merger of Disk Galaxies

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
The Dragonfly galaxy (MRC 0152-209), the most infrared-luminous radio galaxy at redshift z ∼ 2, is a merger system containing a powerful radio source and large displacements of gas.

Extragalactic Magnetism with SOFIA (SALSA Legacy Program): The Magnetic Fields in the Multiphase Interstellar Medium of the Antennae Galaxies

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters, 2022
Mergers are thought to be a fundamental channel for galaxy growth, perturbing the gas dynamics and the magnetic fields ( B -fields) in the interstellar medium (ISM).

A spectroscopic study of the low redshift dwarf galaxy SDSS J134326.99+431118.7 to calculate star formation rate

open access: yesBibechana, 2021
We present a spectroscopic study of an interacting emission-line dwarf galaxy SDSS J134326.99+431118.7. We analyzed eight-strong emission lines of wavelength in a range of 3902.1Å to 6619.1Å.

Spectral Index of the Filaments in the Abell 523 Radio Halo

open access: yesGalaxies, 2021
The galaxy cluster Abell 523 hosts a radio halo characterized by the presence of two filaments transversely located with respect to the cluster merger axis.

Event Rate of Fast Radio Bursts from Binary Neutron Star Mergers

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
It is proposed that a one-off fast radio burst (FRB) with periodic structure may be produced during the inspiral phase of a binary neutron star (BNS) merger. In this paper, we study the event rate of such kind of FRB.

A Proof‐of‐Concept Assessment of a Novel Wearable Eyelid Muscle Device: A Pre‐Clinical Animal Cadaver Study for Eyelid Closure Restoration

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This article introduces a soft wearable eyelid sling device incorporating a hydraulic soft artificial muscle (SAM) for achieving complete closure of an eyelid. The SAM is driven by a cam mechanism that provides a displacement profile closely matched with those of a healthy eyelid.

Could M31 be the result of a major merger?

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2012
We investigated a scenario in which M31 could be the remnant of a gas-rich major merger. Galaxy merger simulations, highly constrained by observations, were run using GADGET 2 in order to reproduce M31. We succeeded in reproducing the global shape of M31,
