Profiling Listeria monocytogenes in Hummus, Fresh Produce, and Food Processing Environments in the Western Cape, South Africa

Minimally processed, ready‐to‐eat foods like hummus and fresh produce are associated with listeriosis, posing a significant risk to certain individuals. Listeria monocytogenes from these foods and production facilities contained key virulence genes, including those linked to hypervirulence and sanitizer tolerance.
