Catalogue of Iranian subfamily Galerucinae s. str. (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) [PDF]
The first comprehensive catalogue of leaf beetles (subfamily Galerucinae s. str.) from Iran is reviewed and several field trips were conducted from 2012 to 2015.

Abstract Species identification and delimitation are particularly challenging for morphologically similar and geographically overlapping species, such as in the case of Western Palaearctic flea beetle species Psylliodes kiesenwetteri Kutschera, 1864 and Psylliodes ruffoi Leonardi, 1975.

Invasion of the coccinellid community associated with a tropical annual agroecosystem
Harmonia axyridis has not dominated the aphidophagous coccinellid community in tropical Brazil 9 years after first detection. Hippodamia convergens had the broadest prey niche and dominated the prey niche of Harmonia axyridis. The community matrix indicated that the present‐day coccinellid community was stable to invasion by Harmonia axyridis. Abstract

This study compared canopy beetle density and diversity between lowland rainforest and the three main cash crop agriculture systems in Sumatra, Indonesia: jungle rubber agroforest, and monoculture plantations of rubber and oil palm. Focusing on the four beetle families Chrysomelidae, Curculionidae, Elateridae and Staphylinidae, we demonstrate severe ...

Summary Chrysomelidae is a family of phytophagous insects with a highly variable degree of trophic specialization. The aim of this study is to test whether species feeding on different plants (generalists) harbour more complex microbiotas than those feeding on a few or a single plant species (specialists).

Prathapanius fortis, a new genus and new species of Galerucinae from Ecuador (Coleoptera, Chrysomelidae) [PDF]
Prathapanius Viswajyothi & Clark, gen. nov., is described and illustrated. The genus is placed in the chrysomelid section Diabroticites Chapuis (subtribe Diabroticina Chapuis, tribe Luperini Chapuis, subfamily Galerucinae Latreille).

Landscape heterogeneity filters functional traits of rice arthropods in tropical agroecosystems
Abstract Biological control services of agroecosystems depend on the functional diversity of species traits. However, the relationship between arthropod traits and landscape heterogeneity is still poorly understood, especially in tropical rice agroecosystems, which harbor a high diversity of often specialized species.

Flea beetles present a masquerading strategy: similarities between beetle bodies and their feeding damage may act as a defence that reduces detection by visual predators. We assess two hypotheses about the evolutionary origin of the masquerading: (H1) the plant leaves' characteristics select beetle morphology; (H2) beetle morphology selects feeding ...
