Estimating National and Foreign Trade Elasticities Using Generalized Transport Costs
ABSTRACT We introduce the definition of two distinct trade elasticities corresponding to imports from regions located in the same country (national elasticities) and foreign regions located in other countries (foreign elasticities). We resort to a three‐tier nested CES utility structure to derive the corresponding demand gravity equations.

The Sounds of Trust: The Bouba–Kiki Effect in Political Leaders' Names
ABSTRACT Prior research has found evidence for the bouba–kiki effect according to which individuals associate sounds related to “bouba” and “kiki” with shapes and feelings. Using individual data from the World Values Survey, we investigate whether political leaders with names that sound “bouba” or “kiki” are associated with higher or lower trust.

National Identities and Immigration in Catalunya and Québec
ABSTRACT While national identity results in either positive or negative opinions towards immigrants, strong identification with a minority nation has been associated with ethnic‐ and language‐based nationalism, thus being linked to negative views.
