Model pluralism for logic

open access: yesNoûs, Volume 60, Issue 1, Page 136-160, March 2026.
Abstract It is well‐recognized in the sciences that a multitude of nonequivalent models are used by researchers to fulfill a range of goals, even for the same target system, a result known broadly as model pluralism. The possibility of the same form of pluralism occurring in logic, however, has not been adequately considered.

Callisto’s Nonresonant Orbit as an Outcome of Circum-Jovian Disk Substructure

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The Galilean moons of Io, Europa, and Ganymede exhibit a 4:2:1 commensurability in their mean motions, a configuration known as the Laplace resonance. The prevailing view for the origin of this three-body resonance involves the convergent migration of ...

Surrogate Quantum Circuit Design for the Lattice Boltzmann Collision Operator

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 127, Issue 4, 28 February 2026.
ABSTRACT This study introduces a framework for learning a low‐depth surrogate quantum circuit (SQC) that approximates the nonlinear, dissipative, and hence non‐unitary Bhatnagar–Gross–Krook (BGK) collision operator in the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) for the D2Q9$$ {D}_2{Q}_9 $$ lattice.

The migration of the Galilean satellites in the circumjovian disk

open access: yes, 2014
Various physical and orbital properties of the Galilean satellites, such as the decreasing density with distance and the Laplace resonance, imply an intriguing formation history of the system.

Predictions of the mutual events of the Galilean Satellites of Jupiter occurring in 2002–2003

open access: yes, 2002
Mutual occultations and eclipses of the Galilean satellites of Jupiter will occur in 2002–2003. This paper provides predictions of these events as well as information useful for their observations. Such events are uncommon, since they occur only every

A Multifrequency Global View of Callisto’s Thermal Properties from ALMA

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal
We present thermal observations of Callisto’s leading and trailing hemispheres obtained using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) at 0.87 mm (343 GHz), 1.3 mm (233 GHz), and 3 mm (97 GHz).

Galilean satellite ephemerides E5 [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy and Astrophysics Supplement Series, 1998
New ephemerides of Jupiter's Galilean satellites are produced from an analysis of CCD astrometric data, Voyager-mission optical navigation images, mutual event observations, photographic plates, and eclipse timing observations. The resulting parameters, for use in the galsat computer software, are in the B1950 frame for use by the Galileo space mission.
