Cutting the sap: First molecular phylogeny of twig‐girdler longhorn beetles (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae: Lamiinae: Onciderini) suggests shifts in host plant attack behaviours contributed to morphological evolution

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, Volume 50, Issue 2, Page 369-386, April 2025.
Onciderines originated c. 56 Ma, in the Palaeocene‐Eocene boundary, and consist of two major monophyletic lineages, here established as subtribes Hypsiomatina and Onciderina. A novel, female‐specific mechanism of attacking host plants known as girdling evolved independently and irreversibly at least five times in the onciderines.

Numerical modelling investigation of finite‐amplitude subaqueous dune saturation

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 50, Issue 4, Page 1-19, 30 March 2025.
Our work demonstrates how finite amplitude dunes in limited depth flows reach a saturation state, preventing their growth. Saturation occurs when the intensity of the turbulent mixing reaches critical thresholds, enhanced by the confinement, reducing inertia and stirring large quantities of suspended sediment downstream of dune crests.

Lunar maria and related deposits: Preliminary Galileo imaging results [PDF]

open access: yes
During the Earth-Moon flyby the Galileo Solid State Imaging system obtained new information on lunar media. Imaging data in spectral bands from 0.4 to 1.0 micron wavelength provide color data for deposits on the western limb.

Light scattering calculations for the nephelometer experiment on the 1981/1982 Jupiter Orbiter-Probe mission [PDF]

open access: yes
A variety of studies were carried out to help establish the accuracy of quantities describing physical characteristics of cloud particles (such as size, shape, and composition) that are to be inferred from light scattering data obtained with the ...
