How gallery forest turns into savanna: an example from Senegal

The study was conducted on the vegetation of Delta du Saloum National Park, Senegal. Probably as a consequence of degradation of gallery forests, the density of woody plants was significantly lower in the valley vegetation than in the surrounding savanna. The regeneration density was not significantly different in the two areas.
