Angiotensin-induced dipsogenesis in domestic fowl ( Gallus gallus ).

Journal of Comparative and Physiological Psychology, 1977
Both systemic (100 mug, 200 mug, and 400 mug im) and intracranial (75 ng, 150 ng, and 300 ng) injections of Val5-angiotensin II-amide produce copious and dose-related drinking in White Leghorn chickens in normal water balance. Angiotensin-induced drinking has been reported in several mammalian species and in Barbary doves and white-crowned sparrows ...

The primary sequence of chicken myoglobin (Gallus gallus)

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Protein Structure, 1975
After enzymatic digestion of chicken myoglobin by trypsin, chymotrypsin or thermolysin, the separation of peptides was performed by column chromatography on various ion exchange resins. Each peptide was purified by high-voltage paper electrophoresis or by chromatography either on paper or on ion-exchange resin, and its complete amino acid sequence was ...

Gallus gallus domesticus: Paratenic host of Angiostrongylus vasorum

Veterinary Parasitology, 2015
Angiostrongylus vasorum, a parasite of the cardiorespiratory system in canids, has a heteroxenous biological cycle in which the intermediate hosts are terrestrial and aquatic mollusks. Generally, canids become infected by ingesting the intermediate host or paratenic hosts, such as amphibians, that contain infective larvae (L3).

Meal-taking by domestic chicks (Gallus gallus)

Animal Behaviour, 1983
Abstract Caged, isolated granivorous birds feed in frequent, brief bouts from which it is difficult to define a meal. This pattern has been viewed as a fundamental difference between the feeding behaviour of avians and mammals. The present results demonstrate that this pattern of feeding is an artifact of the test situation.

Historical fictionalisations are popular with a wide readership today. The better examples avoid expediency with historical fact, but bring dramatic life to otherwise dry chronology. It is therefore surprising to find sober German historical erudition utilising a fictional narrative to impart a copious amount of detail.

Mitochondrial DNA sequence variation within and between red junglefowl (Gallus gallus gallus and Gallus gallus spadiceus) in Thailand

Two subspecies of red junglefowl are described using the difference in their earlobe color. Gallus gallus gallus carries a white earlobe while that of G.g.spadiceus is red. 10 animals from each subspecies were measured for 5 morphomtetric parameters. The analysis found that 4 out of 5 showed nonsignificant differences gut one character, the beak length,
