The Galois Group

1990
We now set up an analogy with symmetries of polygons in the plane even though some of the algebraic analogues have not yet been defined.

Polynomials with frobenius galois groups

Communications in Algebra, 2000
An effective characterization of polynomials of degree n whose Galois groups are Frobenius groups with kernel of order n is given. Some examples of such polynomials are listed.

Computing Galois Groups

2018
In this chapter, we discuss computations of Galois groups. In general, computing the Galois group of a given polynomial is numerically complicated when the degree of the polynomial is modestly high. The numerical methods depend on the knowledge of transitive subgroups of the symmetric groups.

Local Representations of Galois Groups

The Annals of Mathematics, 1969
The purpose of this paper is to present some infinite Galois extensions of algebraic number fields, whose Galois groups possess some matrix representations in local fields, through which the Frobenius automorphisms have algebraic numbers of absolute value N(p)A/2 as characteristic roots.

Galois Groups and Fundamental Groups

2003
This book contains eight expository articles by well-known authors of the theory of Galois groups and fundamental groups. They focus on presenting developments, avoiding classical aspects which have already been described at length in the standard literature. The volume grew from the special semester held at the MSRI in Berkeley in 1999 and many of the
