Modularity of Galois representations [PDF]

open access: yesJournal de théorie des nombres de Bordeaux, 2003
This paper is essentially the text of the author’s lecture at the 2001 Journées Arithmétiques. It addresses the problem of identifying in Galois-theoretic terms those two-dimensional, p-adic Galois representations associated to holomorphic Hilbert modular newforms.

Modular forms of half-integral weight on Γ0(4) with few nonvanishing coefficients modulo ℓ

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2022
Let kk be a nonnegative integer. Let KK be a number field and OK{{\mathcal{O}}}_{K} be the ring of integers of KK. Let ℓ≥5\ell \ge 5 be a prime and vv be a prime ideal of OK{{\mathcal{O}}}_{K} over ℓ\ell . Let ff be a modular form of weight k+12k+\frac{1}

Dimensions of Prym varieties

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2001
Given a tame Galois branched cover of curves π:X→Y with any finite Galois group G whose representations are rational, we compute the dimension of the (generalized) Prym variety Prymρ(X) corresponding to any irreducible representation ρ of G. This formula

A characterization of the relation between two $\ell $-modular correspondences

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mathématique, 2020
Let $F$ be a non archimedean local field of residual characteristic $p$ and $\ell $ a prime number different from $p$. Let $\mathrm{V}$ denote Vignéras’ $\ell $-modular local Langlands correspondence [7], between irreducible $\ell $-modular ...

Deformations of certain reducible Galois representations III [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Number Theory, 2018
Let [Formula: see text] be an odd prime and [Formula: see text] a power of [Formula: see text]. We examine the deformation theory of reducible and indecomposable Galois representations [Formula: see text] that are unramified outside a finite set of ...

Galois representations

open access: yesAnnales de la Faculté des sciences de Toulouse : Mathématiques, 2004
In the first part of this paper we try to explain to a general mathematical audience some of the remarkable web of conjectures linking representations of Galois groups with algebraic geometry, complex analysis and discrete subgroups of Lie groups. In the second part we briefly review some limited recent progress on these conjectures.

Galois Representations with Non-Surjective Traces [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Mathematics, 1999
AbstractLet E be an elliptic curve over , and let r be an integer. According to the Lang-Trotter conjecture, the number of primes p such that ap(E) = r is either finite, or is asymptotic to CE,r√x/log x where CE,r is a non-zero constant. A typical example of the former is the case of rational ℓ-torsion, where ap(E) = r is impossible if r ≡ 1 (mod ℓ ...

Modularity lifting results in parallel weight one and applications to the Artin conjecture: the tamely ramified case

open access: yesForum of Mathematics, Sigma, 2014
We extend the modularity lifting result of P. Kassaei (‘Modularity lifting in parallel weight one’,J. Amer. Math. Soc. 26 (1) (2013), 199–225) to allow Galois representations with some ramification at

TORSION GALOIS REPRESENTATIONS OVER CM FIELDS AND HECKE ALGEBRAS IN THE DERIVED CATEGORY

open access: yesForum of Mathematics, Sigma, 2016
We construct algebras of endomorphisms in the derived category of the cohomology of arithmetic manifolds, which are generated by Hecke operators. We construct Galois representations with coefficients in these Hecke algebras and apply this technique to ...
