Impact Welding Structural Aluminium Alloys to High Strength Steels Using Vaporizing Foil Actuator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Dissimilar Al/Fe joining was achieved using vaporizing foil actuator welding. Flyer velocities up to 727 m/s were reached using 10 kJ input energy. Four Al/Fe combinations involving AA5052, AA6111-T4, JAC980, and JSC1500 were examined.

Distribution of Galvanic Corrosion

open access: yesTransactions of The Electrochemical Society, 1943
The distribution of the galvanic corrosion of a nickel‐to‐steel couple in open, slowly moving, tap water was estimated from measurements of potential differences in the water around the couple. The distribution was confirmed later by thickness measurements. The two methods were in excellent agreement.

FMEA of gasketed and non-gasketed bolted flanged pipe joints [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Limited work is available in the literature on the Failure Mode and Effects Analysis of bolted flanged pipe joints. From previous comparative reliability studies of both gasketed and non-gasketed bolted flanged pipe joints, generally it is found that ...

Interpretation of galvanic series when teaching metal corrosion

open access: yesChemistry Teacher International
The article discusses the knowledge of students in metal corrosion. Usually, resistance of metals against corrosion is determined by the values of the standard electromotive force (EMF) of the metals determined versus the standard hydrogen electrode (SHE)

Electro-isolation of galvanic current

open access: yesElectrochemistry Communications
An electro-isolation method was developed to address the stubborn issue of galvanic effect. This new technique is utterly different from any traditional corrosion-prevention methods in engineering.
