Characterization of Macro/Microstructure and Corrosion Resistance of Austenitic Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Cladding

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 11, 3 June 2026.
Cladding is a proven method that boosts the surface qualities of mechanical parts by applying a layer of more durable material over a base substrate. This work responds to the needs of offshore and pressure vessels sectors by focusing on cladding a super austenitic steel onto low‐carbon steel through gas tungsten arc welding.

Interfacial Adsorption Engineering Enables a Highly Utilized Zinc Anode With 99.9% Coulombic Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 49, 18 June 2026.
When hydrated zinc ions are deposited onto Cu substrates at practical current densities, the modified Cu enables simultaneously compact zinc growth and suppressed hydrogen evolution. This regulatory effect originates from the superior adsorption of the modified Cu interface, which enhances zincophilicity and the hydrogen desorption barrier, thereby ...

Bioresorbable Mo–W Electrodes: Toward an Extended Operational Lifetime Through Controlled Alloying and Oxide Coating Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 13, Issue 11, 9 June 2026.
Bioresorbable electrochemical sensors face instability in biofluids. Although alloys can mitigate rapid in vivo dissolution, Mo–W remains underexplored for sensing. This work engineers Mo–W films with a nanocrystalline oxide coating, improving stability and enabling reliable oxygen and pH sensing for up to 10 days, highlighting their potential for ...

Tracing the Dynamic Chemical Transformations of Spiro‐OMeTAD in Operating Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 34, 19 June 2026.
Mapping of Spiro‐OMeTAD layer's chemistry and electronic properties in PSC: Advanced cluster ion‐beam sputtering depth profile XPS reveals that environmental stressors (light, potential, and moisture) trigger the decomposition of LiTFSI dopants in Spiro‐OMeTAD.

Robust Ag@Au Core–Shell Nanowire Networks: Chemical and Thermal Stabilities Under Harsh Conditions for Transparent Conductive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
Ultrathin, conformal Au shells are epitaxially grown on the surfaces of high‐aspect‐ratio Ag nanowires (NWs), which act as conductive, robust, and chemically inert barriers, effectively protecting the Ag core while preserving the conductive network.

Unexpected Reduction of Silver(I) Cyanide Complex by Gold Yields a Surface‐Limited Silver Monolayer

open access: yesElectrochemical Science Advances, Volume 6, Issue 3, June 2026.
Cyanide ligands from [Ag(CN)2]− complex stabilise the Au(I) complex dramatically and lower its standard reduction potential, so that the silver complex is able to oxidise the metallic gold. In this GRR, ultrathin silver film (0.2–0.3 nm) was deposited on top of the gold surface, and the reaction stops after full coverage.

Corrosion Damage in Retrieved CoCrMo/Ti‐6Al‐4V Modular Junctions in Femoral Revision Total Knee Components

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Materials Research Part B: Applied Biomaterials, Volume 114, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Modularity in revision total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is prevalent; however, corrosion mechanisms at modular junctions in these devices are not well investigated compared to total hip arthroplasty (THA). This retrieval study analyzed corrosion damage on modular junctions of cobalt chromium molybdenum (CoCrMo) alloy femoral components with a ...

Corrosion Performance of Prepainted Galvanized Steel After 8‐Year Outdoor Exposure Upon the Distance to the Seashore in Temperate Environment

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, Volume 77, Issue 6, Page 889-897, June 2026.
The corrosion performance of line‐produced prepainted galvanized steel products was investigated upon the distance to the seashore in temperate environment over 8‐year exposure. The rate of underpaint corrosion from cut‐edge was estimated and depended on the agressiveness of the site and the angle of exposure.
