Investigation on corrosion and galvanic corrosion in LaFe11.6Si1.4 alloy

Materials Chemistry and Physics, 2011
Abstract The corrosion and galvanic corrosion of LaFe 11.6 Si 1.4 alloy were investigated. The microstructure showed the presence of three phases: La(Fe,Si)13, α-Fe and La–Fe–Si. Experiments indicated that the corrosion of each phase increase in the order: La–Fe–Si > La(Fe,Si) 13  > α-Fe in the alkaline water and 0.05 M BTA/0.05 M sodium benzoate ...

Galvanizing — economical corrosion protection

Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials, 1987
Substantial savings in protection costs can be achieved with greater use of hot dip galvanizing. Brian Lansley, marketing manager at the Galvanizers Association discusses the economic benefits offered by galvanizing over other corrosion protection systems.

Thermodynamics of Corrosion: Electrochemical Cells and Galvanic Corrosion

2009
The previous chapter has dealt largely with the corrosion thermodynamics of half-cell reactions for single metals. This chapter considers the effect of coupling two half-cells to form an electrochemical cell. The galvanic corrosion of coupled dissimilar metals is also treated in this chapter.

Galvanic Corrosion of Copper Alloys

1981
Quantitative galvanic corrosion data have been obtained for brass and bronze couples in flowing fresh water. Laboratory measurements of galvanic current flow between brass and bronze were made employing an automatic balancing zero impedance ammeter.

Galvanic Corrosion in Navy Ships

1988
Galvanic corrosion concerns in Navy ships are discussed including the role that cathodic protection plays on the ship hull. The specific causes of a number of shipboard examples of galvanic corrosion are identified, with proposed solutions to each. Most problems occur in seawater connected tanks and in the piping systems, with relatively few on the ...

Area Relationships in Galvanic Corrosion

Corrosion, 1971
The effect of variations of the area of two metals in a galvanic couple is discussed for three common cases. In Case 1, it is assumed that the only significant process on the more active metal (A) at the galvanic potential (ϕg) is metal oxidation (dissolution), while the only significant process on the more noble metal (C) is reduction of the oxidizer (
