Impact of different Lawn Mowing Types on the oribatid and gamasid mite fauna

open access: yes

Inferring associations among parasitic gamasid mites from census data

Oecologia, 2009
Within a community, the abundance of any given species depends in large part on a network of direct and indirect, positive and negative interactions with other species, including shared enemies. In communities where experimental manipulations are often impossible (e.g., parasite communities), census data can be used to evaluate the strength or ...

Basidiobolus haptosporus is frequently associated with the gamasid mite Leptogamasus obesus

Fungal Biology, 2012
Two species of mites inhabiting a pine forest soil were screened for associated fungi. The fungal community composition was assessed in 49 mite and 19 soil samples by environmental PCR with a focus on fungi of the genus Basidiobolus. PCR products of the fungal ITS rRNA gene were analyzed by sub-cloning, RFLP-analysis, and sequencing.

Ultrastructural Study of Spermatogenesis in Gamasid Mites (Acari, Gamasida)

Acta Zoologica, 1991
AbstractStructural alterations accompanying the development of germ cells in representatives of two families of gamasid mites: Pergamasidae (Pergumasus barbarus. P. truatellus) and Parasitidae (Porrhostaspis lunulata) were examined by scanning electron microscopy. Spermatogenesis occurs in cysts containing two (P.

Communities of gamasid mites on Eothenomys miletus in southwest China

Biologia, 2015
The Yunnan red-backed vole (Eothenomys miletus) is an endemic and specific wild rodent species in China. From 39 sites across southwest China, a total of 12,536 individuals of gamasid mites were collected from 2,463 voles between 2001 and 2013. The 12,536 mites were identified as comprising 106 species, 26 genera and 9 families.

Embryonic development of gamasid mites (Parasitiformes: Gamasida)

International Journal of Acarology, 1992
ABSTRACT An account is given of embryonic development in the Gamasida including details of cleavage and gastrulation, and early, prelarval and larval morphogenesis. The specialized development of the Spinturnicidae is compared with that of other gamasids.
