Proceedings of the twenty-sixth annual ACM symposium on Principles of distributed computing, 2007
Distributed systems that span multiple administrative domains require protocols that tolerate both Byzantine and selfish nodes. This paper offers a theory that can be used to analyze such protocols. The theory systematically extends traditional game theory solution concepts through an ex ante analysis that incorporates a rational player’s awareness of ...

Games, Theory and Applications
2004Computer game-playing is a challenging topic in artificial intelligence. The recent results by the computer programs Deep Blue (1996, 1997) and Deep Junior (2002) against Kasparov show the power of current game-tree search algorithms in Chess. This success is owed to the fruitful combination of the theoretical development of algorithms and their ...

Introduction Since the seminal book by Von Neumann and Morgenstern (1944), Theory of Games and Economic Behavior , game theory has progressively permeated all fields of economics (industrial organization, labor, financial and international economics) and extended its influence on the other social sciences (politics, sociology, and law).

Abstract : This paper develops in an abstract way the theory of infinite games. The kernel is replaced by an operator and the distributions by suitably chosen Banach spaces and the complete theory of the determiteness of a game is studied. Both weak and uniform upper and lower values are introduced and are related.

The study of games is tantamount to a study of human behavior in a given economic situation. Here, in simplified form, are some of the basic principles on which the theory of games is based.

Evolutionary game theory is a method of analysing the evolution of phenotypes when fitnesses are frequency-dependent. The assumption made about inheritance is the simplest possible one, that individuals produce offspring identical to themselves — i.e. parthenogenetic inheritance.

Game theory has proved to be a powerful research tool both in the social and in the natural sciences. Originally confined to the strategy of pure conflict, in zero-sum games, its field of application has been extended to cooperation, coordination and the whole range of strategic interactions in which conflict and cooperation coexist.

A Game Theory of Logic — A Logic of Game Theory
1998This paper does not deal with the applications of game theory for which this theory was first developed, that is, for modelling economic systems and rational decision making. But I do not want to consider games as abstract mathematical structures, either. I want to concentrate on what it is that makes a game actually playable.
