Prunus avium species of the Rosaceae family exhibit gametophytic self-incompatibility. Determination of the self-incompatibility genotype of individuals is essential for genetic studies and the development of informed management strategies. The PCR-based

Overcoming Self-Incompatibility in Diploid Potato Using CRISPR-Cas9
Potato breeding can be redirected to a diploid inbred/F1 hybrid variety breeding strategy if self-compatibility can be introduced into diploid germplasm.

The rice transcription factor genes NAC20 and NAC26 regulate grain filling and show allele‐specific maternal expression due to transposable element insertions and paternal hypermethylation in their 5' upstream regions. Geographical analyses showed that japonica varieties that originated at high latitudes carried these transposable elements.

Molecular Approaches to Overcome Self-Incompatibility in Diploid Potatoes
There has been an increased interest in true potato seeds (TPS) as planting material because of their advantages over seed tubers. TPS produced from a tetraploid heterozygous bi-parental population produces non-uniform segregating progenies, which have ...

ABSTRACT Cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) and restorer of fertility (Rf) are important traits in F1 hybrid breeding. However, the CMS/Rf system has not been used in tomatoes because of the limited resources of Rf lines. In this study, we performed mutagenesis in tomato CMS seeds and successfully obtained 13 suppressor mutants with pollen fertility ...

New genetic achievements on gametophytic self-incompatibility of fruit trees
Self-incompatibility is a crucial aspect of the reproductive biology of many fruit species, and in view of its impact on fruit production it has been extensively studied by several research groups worldwide.

Identification of a Novel SBP1-Containing SCFSFB Complex in Wild Dwarf Almond (Prunus tenella)
S-RNase-based gametophytic self-incompatibility (SI), in which specificities of pistil and pollen are determined by S-RNase and the S locus F-box protein, respectively, has been discovered in the Solanaceae, Plantaginaceae, and Rosaceae families, but ...

Temperature‐dependent pollinator‐mediated selection on floral thermoregulation
Summary The thermal environment is one of the most pervasive agents of selection. Most plants cannot choose their microclimate, so understanding how they cope with thermal variability is of critical concern. Several floral traits can modify the floral thermal microenvironment, which may alleviate negative impacts of thermal extremes on gametophytes and

Inheritance of S-genotypes in Paviot × Kabaasi apricot F1 progenies
Self-incompatibility plays an important role in the fertilization of fruit species such as apricot. Apricot (Prunus armeniaca L.) shows gametophytic self-incompatibility, which is controlled by a multi-allelic S-locus.
