Experimental Measurements and Computer Simulation of Fission Product Gamma-Ray Spectra [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Airborne gamma ray spectrometry using high volume scintillation detectors, optionally in conjunction with Ge detectors, has potential for making rapid environmental measurements in response to nuclear accidents. An experimental investigation and computer

percentile-seeking d-multiple estimate

open access: yes, 2023
For two defined gamma distributions with equal expected values, many two-sample random drawings can be done, sample averages calculated from them and ultimately their difference. This is one realization of this difference expression. Doing so many times (

Percentile residual life orders [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper we study a family of stochastic orders of random variables defined via the comparison of their percentile residual life functions. Some interpretations of these stochastic orders are given, and various properties of them are derived. The

Percentile-based segmentation.

open access: yes, 2018
(A, B) The original and percentile-segmented image obtained when setting the upper threshold to the 70th percentile and the lower threshold to the 20th percentile of the original image, and then selecting pixels from a mean smoothed image (7x7 ...

Influence of Scan Strategies in Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion on Solidification, Microstructure, and High‐Temperature Compressive Properties of γ′‐Strengthened Inconel 738LC

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Experiments and thermophysical simulations were conducted to investigate the electron beam powder bed fusion electron beam (PBF‐EB/M) process for the γ′‐strengthened nickel‐based superalloy Inconel 738LC. The results demonstrate the impact of process‐induced microstructural variations on high‐temperature mechanical behavior, providing a basis for ...

Bioinspired Hydrogels with Broadly Programmable Mechanics for Soft‐Tissue Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sea cucumber‐inspired gelatin hydrogels are formed by directional freezing and mechanically programmed through subsequent ionic treatment. Multiscale characterization and modeling link ion‐regulated chain interactions to directional load transfer within the aligned hierarchical architecture.

Soft and Transient Bioelectronics Enabled by Polymer‐Free Ti3C2Tx MXene Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We present Ti3C2Tx MXene hydrogel (MXgel) bioelectronics, a soft, flexible, and fully transient platform for high‐fidelity neural recording and stimulation. MXgel bioelectronics exhibit exceptional electrical conductivities, low electrochemical impedances, and high charge injection capacities.

Percentile- and local autocorrelation-based segmentation methods are comparable.

open access: yes, 2018
Percentile segmentation with thresholds of 0.2 and 0.7 (20th and 70th percentile) and a 7x7 focal neighborhood is compared to local autocorrelation segmentation with a Moran cutoff value of 0.4 and a 7x7 neighborhood.

Deep Contrastive Learning for High‐Throughput Prediction of Drug Resistance Mutations from Sequences

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents DeepMutDTA, a deep learning framework aimed at predicting mutation‐induced changes in protein‐drug interactions and prioritizing variants potentially linked to drug resistance. Trained on large‐scale data, it incorporates SimSiam‐MuTF, a label‐aware contrastive fine‐tuning strategy that encourages separation between WT and MT ...

Microscale Mapping of Fiber Strain and Damage in Composite Wrinkled Laminates Using Computed Tomography Assisted Wide‐Angle X‐Ray Scattering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study combines full‐field tomography with diffraction mapping to quantify radial (ε002$\varepsilon _{002}$) and axial (ε100$\varepsilon _{100}$) lattice strain in wrinkled carbon‐fiber specimens for the first time. Radial microstrain gradients (−14.5 µεMPa$\varepsilon \mathrm{MPa}$−1) are found to signal damage‐prone zones ahead of failure, which ...
