Enhancing Thermal and Radiation Hardness of All‐Organic Printed Transistors by a Flexible and Transparent Encapsulation Layer for Low Earth Orbit Applications

open access: yesphysica status solidi (a), EarlyView.
The paper reports a feasibility study on organic field‐effect transistor in conditions mimicking those occurring in low Earth orbit, toward the future exploitation of organic electronics in new space economy applications, beyond standard optoelectronics.

The First LHAASO Catalog of Gamma-Ray Sources

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
We present the first catalog of very-high-energy and ultra-high-energy gamma-ray sources detected by the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory. The catalog was compiled using 508 days of data collected by the Water Cherenkov Detector Array from 2021

Ground-Based Gamma Ray Astronomy [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Physics, 2014
This paper is the write-up of a rapporteur talk given by the author at the 33rd International Cosmic Ray Conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2013. It attempts to summarize results and developments in ground-based gamma-ray observations and instrumentation from among the $\sim300$ submissions to the gamma-ray sessions of the meeting.

Structure and Migration Mechanisms of Oxygen Interstitial Defects in β‐Ga2O3

open access: yesphysica status solidi (b), EarlyView.
The structures and diffusion mechanisms of interstitial oxygen in different charge states in β‐Ga2O3 are extensively studied using density functional theory. The results provide a detailed map of the potential energy surface for oxygen interstitials in β‐Ga2O3 and demonstrate how these ions migrate between different rings in the structure.

Effects of Galactic Irradiation on Thermal and Electronic Transport in Tungsten

open access: yesphysica status solidi (b), EarlyView.
This atomic‐scale study reveals how low‐to‐mid‐energy space irradiation alters tungsten's thermal and electronic behavior, even at low defect levels. Focusing on vacancy sites in bulk and near grain boundaries, it employs two novel approaches: site‐projected thermal conductivity and the N2$^{2}$ method for the thermal and electronic response analysis ...

Ground-based very high energy gamma ray astronomy: Observational highlights [PDF]

open access: yes
It is now more than 20 years since the first ground based gamma ray experiments involving atmospheric Cerenkov radiation were undertaken. The present highlights in observational ground-based very high energy (VHE) gamma ray astronomy and the optimism ...

Ground-based gamma-ray astronomy [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2000
Ground-based gamma-ray astronomy has become an active astrophysical discipline with four confirmed sources of TeV gamma rays, two plerionic supernova remnants (SNRs) and two BL Lac objects (BL Lacs). An additional nine objects (one plerion, three shell-type SNRs, one X-ray binary, and four BL Lacs) have been detected but have not been confirmed by ...

A consistent coupling of two‐moment microphysics and bulk ice optical properties, and its impact on radiation in a regional weather model

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel, consistent coupling of two‐moment microphysics (i.e., ice mass mixing ratio and number) with bulk ice optical properties, providing improved accuracy in radiative transfer simulations. The parametrisations, based on the mass‐equivalent spherical radius, avoid uncertainties associated with the effective radius by directly ...

History of gamma-ray telescopes and astronomy [PDF]

open access: yesExperimental Astronomy, 2009
Gamma-ray astronomy is devoted to study nuclear and elementary particle astrophysics and astronomical objects under extreme conditions of gravitational and electromagnetic forces, and temperature. Because signals from gamma rays below 1 TeV cannot be recorded on ground, observations from space are required. The photoelectric effect is dominant 30 MeV,
