Microquasars and Gamma-ray Sources [PDF]

open access: yesChinese Journal of Astronomy and Astrophysics, 2005
Microquasars are X-ray binary systems with non-thermal radio emission originated in jet-like features. They are attractive sites for gamma-ray production, since relativistic particles in the jet should traverse locally strong both photon and matter fields.

Multifunctional Hydroxyapatite Coated with Gallium Liquid Metal‐Based Silver Nanoparticles for Infection Prevention and Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A multifunctional hydroxyapatite (HAp) coating integrated with silver‐gallium liquid metal nanoparticles (HAp‐Ag‐GaNPs) exhibits dual antibacterial and osteogenic properties. It effectively inhibits Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacteria, including resistant strains, while enhancing bone regeneration.

Photon-Photon Absorption of Very High Energy Gamma-Rays from Microquasars: Application to LS 5039

open access: yes, 2005
Very high energy (VHE) gamma-rays have recently been detected from the Galactic black-hole candidate and microquasar LS 5039. A plausible site for the production of these VHE gamma-rays is the region close to the mildly relativistic outflow.

Unique Performance Considerations for Printable Organic Semiconductor and Perovskite Radiation Detectors: Toward Consensus on Best Practice Evaluation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A lack of standard approaches for testing and reporting the performance of metal halide perovskites and organic semiconductor radiation detectors has resulted in inconsistent interpretation of performance parameters, impeding progress in the field. This Perspective recommends key metrics and experimental details, which are suggested for reporting in ...

Gamma Ray Bursts [PDF]

open access: yesBerkeley Scientific Journal, 2014
G amma R ay B ursts Bennett Stahl Many strange, incredible and explosive phenomena occur in the vast vacuum of space. Many forces are present in abundance that are more complex and powerful than imaginable; they could destroy life as we know it without leaving a trace of our existence.

Highly Efficient 3D‐Printed PVDF‐Based Triboelectric Nanogenerators Featuring Polymorphic Perovskite Nanofillers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates the use of a low‐cost 3D printing technique to prepare a large‐area PVDF‐FAPbI3 composite dielectric film for flexible TENG application. The δ→α phase transformation of the FAPbI3 nanofillers has significantly improved the β‐phase content, morphology, and dielectric properties of the PVDF film.

Small-scale Magnetic Fields Are Critical to Shaping Solar Gamma-Ray Emission

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The Sun is a bright gamma-ray source due to hadronic cosmic-ray interactions with solar gas. While it is known that incoming cosmic rays must generally first be reflected by solar magnetic fields to produce outgoing gamma rays, theoretical models have ...
