Cosmic-ray-induced ionization in molecular clouds adjacent to supernova remnants - Tracing the hadronic origin of GeV gamma radiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Energetic gamma rays (GeV to TeV photon energy) have been detected toward several supernova remnants (SNR) associated with molecular clouds. If the gamma rays are produced mainly by hadronic processes rather than leptonic processes like bremsstrahlung ...

Gamma-ray luminosity function of gamma-ray bright AGNs [PDF]

open access: yesResearch in Astronomy and Astrophysics, 2009
Detection of Gamma-ray emission from a class of active galactic nuclei (viz blazars), has been one of the important findings from the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory (CGRO). However, their Gamma-ray luminosity function has not been well determined. Few attempts have been made in earlier works, where BL Lacs and Flat Spectrum Radio Quasars (FSRQs) have ...

Radiatively decaying scalar dark matter through U(1) mixings and the Fermi 130 GeV gamma-ray line [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In light of the recent observation of the Fermi-LAT 130 GeV gamma-ray line, we suggest a model of scalar dark matter in hidden sector, which can decay into two (hidden) photons. The process is radiatively induced by a GUT scale fermion in the loop, which is charged under a hidden sector U(1), and the kinetic mixing ($\sim \epsilon F^{\mu\nu}F'_{\mu\nu}$

Multiwavelength Variability Analysis of 3C 279

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2017
We present a multifrequency analysis of the variability in the flat-spectrum radio quasar 3C 279 from 2008 to 2014. Our multiwavelength datasets range from 1 mm to gamma-rays, with additional optical polarimetry.

High-energy Electromagnetic, Neutrino, and Cosmic-Ray Emission by Stellar-mass Black Holes in Disks of Active Galactic Nuclei

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Some Seyfert galaxies are detected in high-energy gamma rays, but the mechanism and site of gamma-ray emission are unknown. Also, the origins of the cosmic high-energy neutrino and MeV gamma-ray backgrounds have been veiled in mystery since their ...

Discovery of Long-Lived Shape Isomeric States which Decay by Strongly Retarded High-Energy Particle Radioactivity

open access: yes, 2000
The reaction 28Si + 181Ta has been studied at E(Lab) = 125 and 135 MeV. Coincidences between high energy particles and various X- and gamma-rays from abnormally long-lived states were observed. e.g.

Induced variability in quantitative characters of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding, 2010
Groundnut genotype AK-280 was treated with EMS 40 mM, 60 mM, gamma rays 30 kR, 40 kR, 50 kR and combination treatment of EMS 20mM + gamma rays 20 kR. The observations on various quantitative characters were recorded in M2 generation.

Multiple Gamma-Ray Detection Capability of a CeBr3 Detector for Gamma Spectroscopy

open access: yesJournal of Spectroscopy, 2017
The newly developed cerium tribromide (CeBr3) detector has reduced intrinsic gamma-ray activity with gamma energy restricted to 1400–2200 keV energy range.

Comparison of radiosensitivity of two rice (Oryza sativa L.) varieties to gamma rays and electron beam in M1 generation

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding, 2017
The present study was carried out to compare effect of gamma rays and electron beam on two rice varieties viz., ADT-37 and ADT(R) 45. Dried seeds of both the varieties were treated with gamma rays and electron beam with different doses viz., 100Gy, 200Gy,

Constraints on the Gamma-Ray Emission from Small Solar System Bodies with the Fermi Large Area Telescope Data

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
All known small solar system bodies have diameters between a few meters and a few thousands of kilometers. Based on the collisional evolution of solar system bodies, a larger number of asteroids with diameters down to ∼2 m is thought to exist.
